Custom molded enclosures for audio system

Post by idontknowwhatimdoing »

Hello all...This is the space where I will be posting a tutorial with pics on the step by step progress of my car audio project. I am doing this so all of you will have some "inside" knowledge of molding with fiberglass and how you can do it your self. I will have two projects in the next few months and possibly a third. Two custom molded sub enclosures in the rear to house 4) 12" woofers, the custom kick panels in the front and if I feel I need to do the project further, custom door panels. Simple tools are all that is required, patience, and a few bucks. I will post the first stages of the kick panel pods in the next week or so. Thanks and have fun!

Sounds good! I'd like to give it a try later this summer when I get my garage cleaned out.

Hey,Very interested in this. Although I'm not into the big car audio systems, I'm considering having a 10" DVC sub enclosure molded into the back right panel. Would be interested to see what you come up with.Dave

Well someone beat me to the punch and did a GREAT write up on some of this stuff...we differ in a few VERY minor ways, but they both achieve the same result. Check this link for doing fiberglass kickpanel pods:http://web.njit.edu/~cas1383/p...x.htmAnd this link for fiberglass subwoofer enclosures:http://web.njit.edu/~cas1383/p...x.htmI will still do some tutorials if people would like, but this is pretty much the same thing.
