My head lights are going hay-wire!

For some reason my running lights don't work but my brights do. Aren't they the same bulb? I'm pretty sure I didn't accidently dissable them because my right running light stopped working 3 days before the left one stopped working. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm a little worried that I might have voided my warentee because I changed my headlights to silverstars, but I'm the bulbs aren't what's broken. Any idea what's wrong or what I can do? Thanks ps- tomorrow is my birthday

It could very well be the headlight filament is burned out and the Bright filament still works. I would check them first. If you still have the original bulbs try putting those back in and then you'll know if it is the bulb or not. If it is not the bulbs, then put both originals back in and take it to the dealer for warranty work. Happy early B-Day!

Check fuses too, the headlights and the brites use seperate fuses (I think), at least different relays. Try plugging one of the original bulbs in and see if it works. If not, there's something going on other than the bulbs..

Chances are your regular bulbs are burnt out, but your brights will still work. you probably just need to replace the light bulbs.we haven't seen you around here in a while. Welcome back and happy birthday.

I'd bet your silverstars are burnt out. There have been a number of threads about the short life span of silverstars. Use of silverstars apparently requires frequent bulb replacement.

Well Recently I changed my fog light bulbs to and in almost a month both burned out. I was like (removed) (at least Best Buy didn't charge me for em, It helps to flirt with the girls at the counter the fforget to do things sometimes!) So I"m thinking osmething is wrong witht th ewiring, ( I was told here that if you put in higer watt lamps you could fry the wiring. so I pulled the bulbs out and to my surprise they were both dead, I poped in my old ones and ***tada*** they work! Soin a round about way, I'm guessing in your case it's just the bulb that is bad.Out

Now, if you'd done something like a full HID conversion, which is an entirely differently lighting system, that would raise warranty questions.As to your dilemma, I'd agree with what was said above, it's likely the bulbs. Because we don't use a dual-capsule system, the same bulb has two filaments -- one for low beam, one for high. Not always practical, because, as you've discovered, if you lose one filament, the whole bulb needs to be replaced to regain full functionality. Try popping your stock bulbs back in (if you have them), and you'll likely find all is well.Especially given that you said one bulb went 3 days prior to the other, it screams filament issues to me.Do your headlights work if you turn them on manually?

Thanks a lot guys! I'll try that tomorrow. Today I'm busy with various birthday things. It's a good thing I kept my old bulbs. I'll let u know if it works or not. Thanks again

I recently experienced the same thing. One of my lights went out and my high beams still worked. The bulb just needs replacing. Just be careful when you change them since the bulb is very sensitive as compared to the OEM bulbs.
