When is first payment due?

Post by 21Rouge »

The only advertised incentive, in Ontario, for the Vibe is 0% financing. When I get a call that the car is in and I go to get it, I will bring a voided cheque to allow them to automatically debit monthly the payment from my account. But I am just wondering if the *first* payment is due at the time of pickup or will it start at some other time that month and then repeated that same date each month for the next THREE years ?

My payments started one month after I picked up my Vibe - the payment for the day I got the Vibe was rolled into the downpayment, I think. The payments come out once per month on the day you picked up your car. So I picked mine up on the 6th of the month, so my payments come out on the 6th.

It may work a little different in the US, but my payments did not start until the 1st of the month AFTER I had the car for one month. In other words, I picked up my car on July 14th. My payments did not start until September 1st.

i know you are allowed to change you payment date once. Like if your rent is due on the 1st and your car is also due on the 1st you can have gm shift your car to the 15th

i don't know what it is in canada, but in the US, they can postpone the first payment by 45 days. of course, it means you have to pay that much more interest on the full principal and will increase your monthly payment slightly.

If I remember correctly, I made a nice down payment on mine when I got it end of dec. The next car payment was not until Feb of 04 but who knows anymore. I originally had it set up to two payments a month which somehow ended up becoming one payment without my concent for the full amount. Which then also began to come out of my account the 29th of each month. Which in the case of Feb, doesn't always have 29 days so they took two payments out in March instead. (we're talking 2005 year now)
