Time Zones?

Post by kostby »

Living in 'timeless' central Indiana (where we NEVER move the clocks -- at least until the State Legislature acts to put us on Daylight Savings Time in the next couple of weeks), I've noticed that since DST took effect my posts show the time as being AN HOUR LATER than I send them!I checked my user settings, and I'm set at "GMT - 5 hours", which IS correct year round, at least for now.Am I living in a time warp, or does ZeroForum software try to apply Daylight Savings Time automagically?

In your case, you may have to go in and manually adjust your time for each time change.Let me know what works.

You'll manually have to change to central time in the spring, go back to Eastern in the fall.... A pain, but puts you in the right time all year round...

Our high school was in the country, between two small towns that attended. The town that I lived in was literally on the other side of the 'time line' as the high school. That is obviously not very convenient, so they 're-drew' the line to just a few miles on the other side of the town I lived in. So, when we would have doctors appointments, etc in a larger town about 10 miles away, we'd always have to remember whether or not we were on the same time or not. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Oh yeah - go Rick Mount (Lebanon) and Purdue! (even though I've been away from Indiana for 20 years)

lol! They didn't live here, I guess... This rogue Indiana county like mine where they defy the law that says "daylight savings time is not to be observed here!" and make us change the time...

It's not quite an issue exclusive to Indiana: parts of Arizona also do not observe DST, and Hawaii is also 'timeless'.Because the surrounding states have larger communities bordering Indiana (Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky for those who flunked geography) and more economic clout, there are only about 78 counties out of 92 that observe Eastern Standard Time year 'round ANYWAY.The 'border colonies' break away: Northwest Indiana goes with Chicago (CDT now), South Bend/Elkhart goes with Michigan (EDT now), Southeast Indiana goes with Cincinnati (EDT now). Jeffersonville goes with Louisville (EDT?), Evansville probably goes with IL (CDT?).Of course, in other parts of the world, there are timezones that begin on the 1/2 hour. Someone suggested that we be 1/2 hour ahead of Chicago and 1/2 hour behind New York! That'd REALLY fix it, right???
