2005 Vibe Prices

Post by Mr. Poopypants »

I know this has probably been mentioned before. But the other day, I went to my dealership to get the power window switch plate (driver's side) replaced because the clip that holds it in broke. So, while I had some time, I browsed the lot. 2005 Vibe GT, cloth interior 16" wheels, 6 speed. FOR $26,000!!!I did not see one Vibe cheaper than $22,000When I purchased my Vibe with the extended protection warranty (the second highest version of the extended warranty) I only paid $19,000. (removed)!!

I didn't see anything custom about it. I am almost offended that GM raised their prices so much on the Vibe that they are almost pricing themselves out of the sport wagon market.

I shopped around when I bought mine in Aug-04 last year and one of the comments that kept hearing back was the 4cyl were pushing the market -- In fact the 6 cyl GMC Jimmy 2 door on the lots were heavily cut price chopped that I almost jumpped back into a 4x4. They even showed me the GMAC interest rate chart in where the Vibe was one of the few not offered at 0 per cent. The biggest problem the dealers around here had was that no one wanted the automatic. One dealer had 14 2004 Vibes that he had a problem selling because thery were all autos.Ottawa, Ont Canada

In first post that you said "6 speeds", I wondering that Vibe have V6 in it or not. Most Vibe have five speed manual and four speed automatic. I have not see one in six speed. Maybe dealer try earn more money... Who knows...

I thought the 6 speed was optional. Either way, there is no V6 Vibe. I wish!

Damn...I don't think they're asking anywhere near that here. Mine stickered at $19K as a base auto with moon and tunes and power, and the GMO discount made it a pretty sweet deal. But now the Vibe seems to have less included accessories, such as the outlet in the console for your cell phone...and is the 110V outlet an option now or is it still standard? Less stuff and they're charging a bigger price...makes no sense. Did Toyota hike the price up on the Matrix too, I wonder?Who in the world would pay $26,000 for a 4cyl economy wagon...even if it is the GT? When I bought mine, "loaded" equalled a little over $22,000, if I remember correctly...

It wasnt hard to see, while wandering the showroom, that we could get a 2005 Montana minivan for less than the Vibe. Thing was, we had a crappy Montana MY 2000 and we wanted a smaller vehicle. Also all cash incentives were being used to dump Cavaliers. It was crazy the discounts on this vehicle....I think $5000

When I was getting the Vibe worked on last week, I was talking with this salesman that tries to make me get rid of the car every time I walk in. We started talking about Vibe pricing, then I mentioned I heard about a $27,000 Vibe... We went over to the computer and he did a dealer search..Oh my, the number of $26-27K Vibes within a few hundred miles of here was frightening to say the least. They were all AWD's with leather and all that crap.Sorry Vibe fans, but the thought of paying that much for these cars is just ludicrous! Overpriced and underpowered for sure... I can think of so many better cars that can be bought for that amount of money.... That's just me though. Must be the Toyota factor playing a part here. Jack the price way up there because Toyotas are "superior." heh... lol

Don't confuse 'sticker' price with actual 'selling' price! There's virtually NO direct relationship anymore between 'sticker' and 'selling' prices at most dealerships, particularly in large metro areas!IMHO people who MIGHT consider a car with a true selling price of $20,000 don't even come in the dealership when the sticker shows $25,000 plus!Example: A central Indiana dealer loaded with Vibes is advertising 'up to $3200 discount', before a $2000 rebate (only $1,000 if you take cut-rate financing).Assuming we're talking about a totally loaded Vibe with a sticker of $26,000, and offered at the maximum discount mentioned above...$26,000 - $3,200 = $22,800 - $2,000 rebate = $20,800Anyone still wonder why GM is bleeding cash from North American operations to the tune of $2.2 BILLION* in the first quarter of 2005?*The $1.1 billion loss mentioned in the press was after adding in the $1.1 billion PROFIT from GMAC.

I also saw this in the GM internal circulations for GMS pricing. The have the base price of the vibe for $21,445for a new car the lease for a GM enployee is $321 per month for 3 years.Look at the toyota web site and the Matrix XRS starts $18,850Wow,. I wonder why GM is having a problem selling carsThere decision so get the highest profits possible to make the shareholders happy, have alienated there customers.Health care is not the problem with GM there pricing is. If some one knows they can get a Matrix cheaper then a Vibe they will.Thats the bottom line.Nick
