The Best Tire Calculator on The Internet!

Post by SilverExpress »

Go to this website:http://www.rims-n-tires.comClick on the link at the very bottom right "Size Comparer"For the Matrix (I'm assuming the Vibe is the same)OEM Steel Rim 16x6.5 offset +39 mmOEM Aluminum 16x6.5 offset +39 mmOEM Aluminum 17x7 offset +45 mmUtilize the above values in the left column calculator. And then enter your "I gotta have" rim and tire values on the right. To get a good idea on how far your new tire will stick out...try this. With the 16" OEM tire and rim above let's do the following:1) Divide the tire width by 2 (for example, 205 mm/2 = 102.5 mm)2) Next, take the result above and minus the offset of the rim from it (for example, 102.5 mm - 40 mm = 62.5 mm)3) 62.5 mm is how far the edge of the tire that faces outwards is from the mounting pad (where the rim butts against the brake drums/rotors)OK, so above is for the steel and aluminum 16" OEM rims and tires.NOW...do the same to your "I gotta have" those rims and tires....Let's say I'm looking at Enkei's RSV's in a 17x7 offset +35 with a 225/45/ZR17 tire. Doing the same calculation above...I get 77.5 mm (you do the math).I take 77.5 mm - 62.5 mm and the result is 15 mm. This is the amount that the new set up will grow outwards closer to the fender lip. Not MUCH! So with this number you can take a metric rule (removed) it up against your OEM 16" tires and measure 15 mm towards the fender lip.Have fun!PS does anyone know what the distance of the fender lip is from the face of the brake rotors/drums for the front and rear wheels?
