Playing CD-R's and RW's

Post by White03 »

I tried to play a burned CD in the Vibe and it works, I just noticed it does not eject as easily as a regular CD. Is it just my player or have others had that problem. I could not find anything in the owners manual about it.Do most of you play burned cd's, and if so do you ever have problems? Thanks,David

Do you have an adhesive label on it?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Frequently play burned CD's and don't have a problem. Haven't tried a CD-RW, though.

Do you happen to have a label stuck to the top of the disc? There have been cases where folks who have had discs physically jammed in the player due to labels...Other than that, I don't know - you may try different types of discs, perhaps the surface isn't getting along with the CD player's mechanism...No problems here with mine, and CD-R discs are all I've used. CD-RW probably won't be readable in the factory system, so I thought I'd run that by you before you went through the trouble. Hope this helps...

I play CD-Rs in mine all the time, almost exclusively actually, and have noticed zero performance difference whatsoever. I haven't tried any CD-RWs, just plainly for the fact that I'd rather use cheap CD-Rs instead of messing with reformatting and such. I don't have any issues with the CD-Rs, though. However, the head unit in my Sonoma, which I had before the Vibe, did start playing the "I don't wanna eject" game, which was quickly followed by the "I want to keep your CD forever and ever and sit here and make ugly noises until you replace me" game.

THanks,No I did not have a label and the CD surface is as normal as one you would buy from the store. I tried another one I burned and it seemed alright. The only difference is the nonplayable side is darker. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Thanks for the help,David

I have no problems what so ever playing burned CD's. I just wish it would play MP3's.

CDR's work just fine in mine, however CDRW's do not work.

Here's an older thread about CDRs and RWs: http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=1 All CDRs should work and then there have been mixed results with CDRWs. My CDRWs worked, but some people said their's did not.
