I remember reading somewhere 'long ago in a galaxy far away' that the Vibe had a 'cell phone docking station'. And then I think I recall seeing on Genvibe that such a feature no longer is featured on the '05? *What* is/was it? Is this just the cigarette lighter for charging? And if so where does one charge the cell?

The cigarette lighter in the dash, I would guess... Mine just has two, the one in the dash and the one in the console. So I guess the '05s would just have one.

Laptop computer, 12V cooler, DVD/VCR player, heated coffee mug.....The '05 has one 12V outlet in the dash period. The lighter and ashtray are the "smokers" option which costs extra.
i installed a 3 way 12v adapter on the side of my lower center dash. I plugged it into the hidden 12v plug inside my console (not in the 2005). i ran the wiring under the carpeting and through a small hole in the bottom of the console itself so you can't see it. there, i have my 2 power adapters for my work cell and my personal cell, plus the goofy "runway lights" (as Phil calls them). nothing in the cig lighter itself since anything i put there is in the way of the shifter. i find that was a very poor design on GM/Toyota's parts.
There were 2 12V outlets total. The one in the dash, which is also a cig lighter, and the one hidden in the console (in the 03/04 models), for charging a cell phone out of sight. At least that was the marketing pitch. Charge a phone, keep it hidden. Doesn't work like that though, considering BOTH outlets are ignitiion controlled...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
You can order the the GM Cover #88971514 and the Receptical # 889715515, It snaps in to the console. You will have to cut the connector on the wiring which is under the console and make your own connector and wire them to the back of the power receptical. The Blue/yellow wire is +12V. The White/Black wire is the ground wire. You will then have a power socket in the console that is switched on the Auxillary circuit and on the same 10 amp fuse that the power socket on the dash uses.

I really would like to have the dealer make good on this advertised feature ie http://gmcanada.com/english/ve....htmland my glossy brochureMaybe I could show them the part nos as you made mention in this thread and they do the work? What do you think they will say?
They will probably refer you to the part of the advertisement that states specifications subject to change without notice.I also ordered the female connector but it did not come with the female pins and I wasn't able to order them. The connector was very expensive so removed the existing male connector and soldered in a two lead connector that I picked up from an auto parts store. Make sure you have a quick disconnect in case you want to take the console off again in the future.
