magnaflow sounds

Post by kharman »

has anyone else had a problem with the close fit of the magnaflow causing a rattling noise during warm up, due to the pipes hitting against the underbody plating?...once the car warms up this stops, but it sure is annoying...

It's the cross piece under the midpipe. I removed the one on the Vibe and the sound is gone.Inder

I still get it from time to time, not as bad as I used to though. Usually happens when its cool to cold out.

Mine rattles a little bit around 2500 or 3000 rpm during acceleration. I hear it every once in a while if I have my windows down or radio turned off. My exhaust is welded on so nothing is loose. Me thinks it is just the harmonics of the exhaust versus the harmonics of the car itself that causes the vibration.

Yeah, I had the exact same problem. I ended up just removing the cross bar. It was very annoying hearing the rattle during acceleration, worse when the engine was colder for some reason. I may try and add some spacers to give it more clearance, or maybe see if I can give it a curve.
