OK, maybe everyone but me knows this answer, but in two years I've never seen it mentioned: How and why does a topic pop up to the top of the active list, showing a current post date, but when you open it the actual date may be days or months past? E.g.: At the time of this post, the top item on the Active Topics list is one by Sunny, relating to snow tire sizes. It shows a post time of 9:40 PM today, 11/11 2004. When I open the thread and scroll to the bottom, the actual last post was indeed by Sunny, but was created at 9:27 on 10/14.
If a thread has a poll, it gets bumped to the top anytime someone votes (in the case of the snow tire thread). Also, if a moderator edits/moves the thread, stickies it, unstickies it, etc., it also gets bumped.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I was wondering the same! I noticed this morning on the "How much is your payment?" thread, that it was bumped up and I saw this:7:01 AM 11/20/2004by ColonelPanicNow, I had always assumed, that this meant the last person who posted and the time the post was made. Which I am still the last person to post on that particular thread, but the actual post I made was at 8:04 on 11/15. For a second, I thought somebody h4x0r3d my account. No way I could have posted anything at 7:01, since I was on the road home from work at that time. They way they word it makes it look like I last posted at such and such time, although I wasn't the person who had the last activity in the forum.Whew, I was worried there for a minute.
