All's well that ends well...

Post by ragingfish »

So I dropped the car off early this morning to have the new parts put in. They called me around 10 am, and said they found more deeply rooted damage. And yes, the main wire harness is fried. They quoted me $3000 to fix, with labor.I told them to wait. I went down there, and started talking, and have come to a better resolution. The dealer made me an amazing deal on a new G6 V6. The terms of the deal were I must undo everything I've done to the car. Pull the HIDs. Pull the horns. Pull the amp and speakers. Pull the LEDs. Reverse the spring install, etc. etc. Oh, and the absolute most crucial part of the deal: I PROMISE NOT TO MODIFY THE G6. I accepted. I didn't WANT to let the Vibe go, but I had no choice...I couldn't justify the $3000 (or maybe more if they found more damage) to fix the car.So, I have 2 weeks to undo my customizations (the one I'm getting is out of state), and then the Vibe shall go to the next lucky owner...Look for LOTS of parts for sale here soon!

Ouch, a fried harness sucks!Really sorry to hear this Mike I can't imagine the whole thing being fried or you wouldn't have been able to drive it and many things wouldn't have worked. Did you take it anywhere else to have it checked out? At least they made you a good deal on another car, but why not another Vibe? Not to sound pushy or anything but I'm looking for some parts like a magnaflow exhaust for the GT.. Keep me in mind if you have one.

No GT here, and certainly no exhaust.I like the Vibe and all, but I HATE the 05...and I wanted more power...my dad's G6 is a blast to drive...The whole harness wasn't fried...but several wires that revolve around the door sensors and dome lighting were.

Sorry to hear about your Vibe. I know you love those G6's so I'm sure you'll be happy in the end. I KNOW they can't keep you from altering the G6 unless you are leasing it. Good luck with that! Post pics.

Post pics.It wasn't a LITERAL term...But they don't want to see that car end up like this one...plus, the G6 is light-years ahead of the Vibe in terms of complexity...so I wouldn't even THINK of altering anything on it...maybe new speakers, but that would be it!!!

Sorry to hear, maybe it's better that you don't mod the G6 . At this point, IMHO I would look into the GTO or the Turrent(sp). Good luck with everything.

All those years of family loyalty to one dealership have obviously been rewarded! Is there a G6 forum already? Sudden thought: 'GEN-GEE-SIX' is a lot harder to say than 'GenVibe'.Congrats.

If it's not April Fools...I would imagine he'd still be around GVC. There are several people here who no longer have their Vibes. Now, if it's not April Fools...wow, man...congratulations! No Vibe sucks, but I know you love the G6...no mods is gonna be hard though. If it is April Fools...it's a good one and you've got me! LOL

Woah! Hate to see you have to ditch the Vibe, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do! That's how I ended up with the Vibe, the car I traded needed far too much work than I was willing to pay for, so I just told the dealer "keep it." Tell us a bit about the G6 when you get a chance! And bring that sucker to the meets too! Congrats on the G6, and yes, no modding.

*achem*It's 12:05am on 4/2/05.What better time than now to say:YOU'VE ALL BEEN HOED.The Vibe never went to the dealer, it's still waiting for the original parts to come in...And we all know I"m in a bit of a financial tizzy right now, so needless to say, a new car most definitely is not in the budget!Sorry guys, I didn't do anything last year, so I figured I'd try to get y'all this year. I got most of you, though some of you are probably still not sure if it's real..Anyway, I'm sure it'll be several years before she goes...or at least 2007, when the SKY comes out. So, in summary.APRIL FOOLS.Special apologies to ArcsVibe who I even hoed over IM! You know you rock bro.

just to be clear, I wasn't being serious about banning Mike over a well played April fools joke. I am still bitter about falling for it, sucks that I have to wait a year to get revenge. Maybe we can schedule a huge jersey meet for 4/1/2006, and then have nobody but him actually show up, then we could get a moderator to edit the meet thread to change the location, and we could ask him why he never showed up.What would be another good form of revenge to wreak on him on 4/1/2006?

OK, now you've lost me. So let me see if I've got this straight. You did go monkeying around with your Vibe's interior again, but this time it bit you where the sun don't shine. You've fried some wiring that is going to require fixing, but it is not going to cost thousands of $$$. You're going to fix the damage (or have it fixed) and keep the Vibe, not going to pull of some incredible trade with your dealer for a sweet new G6, and you previously punk'd GenVibe for April Fool's Day. Does the court have the record straight now???
