need advice on a GT ASAP

Post by SenenCito »

im looking at a repossed Vibe 2003 GTI has 16k miles and is selling for WAY below what im used to hearing, i talked to the dealer for a while and the price is a definitive.I looked at it carefully and only things I could find was a blown tire, which really doesn't bother me at all and the fact that the previous owner was a smoker, something I can take care of in 2 hours. The Vibe is selling at 12k, in comparison a new fully equipped (sunroof two spoilers) 2004 vibe gt is selling for 22kMy 2004 GP has 25k miles so that is an astonishing low mileageNow what I need to know is 1. What should I be specifically looking at on that car, which particular defects are specific for that model?2. Anyone here able to do a carfax? Nothing will probably show up but I figure its worth a check.3. What are your general opinions on this, should I just say **** it and trade in my car for it?

if there isnt anything wrong with the interior trim and exterior panels i doubt there is anything wrong with it. repo's are generally in great shape unless the trim and panels are trashed.Edit: check rear window defroster(might be hard to do), make them put in higher CCA battery before delivery. great find! i've seen auction vibes go for around that in vegas.

That's a great price. I got my '03 GT with 25k miles for $12577. Sounds like you're getting a great deal. Drive it, warm it up, make sure it pulls into lift at 6300rpm. Check the oil, make sure its not burned.Go for it! Come back with pics when you drive it home.

If nobody can run a free carfax report for you then spend the $25 to run one yourself. Either it will come back and tell you nothing of interest, or it will tell you about some trauma the car has had. If it comes up clean, then you bought some peace of mind, if it comes back with issues, then you know before you spend $12,000.00 After the trouble you had with your last Vibe, you want to be sure about this one ( http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=13835 ) the 03 GTs have 7 HP more than the 04's Seems like the major gripe on GTs is possible clutch issues. On all models there are concerns about paint chips. Where you live you probably don't have to worry about the stock battery not cranking well when the temp gets to 20°F but if you can talk them into a new battery, go for it!good luck, hope you're Vibing again soon!

I too would say go for it. That is an awesome deal and you can't go wrong with it still under warranty.

I would say GO FOR IT .. trade in your car and get into the VIBE Just make sure that you do a search on the vehicle first to see if it has been in any accidents ..

does it have a CLEAR title? some states and providences mark the title, similar to a salvage title, making it very hard to sell the car when you get ready to trade. I'd check that, and it it's clear go for it.....

What should I be specifically looking at on that car, which particular defects are specific for that model?Well, there's also the facial discomfort issue that is common to GT owners. Seems there is a problem with getting pain in your face from excessive smiling as a possible side effect of the emotions that are caused by repeatedly experiencing "lift". Make them throw in a bottle of pain reliever under warranty and let us all know if lift-induced facial pain becomes an issue for you too.Good luck!
