Automatic Transmission CAI question...

Post by arun84h »

Hey everybody!I'm new here, and just bought a new 2005 Vibe. I'm new to the world of modding and have a simple (and probably dumb) question about the cold air intake. My Vibe is automatic transmission. Does this limit my options when modding or upgrading performance? I am specifically wondering about the CAI installation on my auto. Would I still be able to install one even though I do not have a manual transmission? Thanks for any replies, and I would love to know any info. to help me get my feet wet in this whole thing!!! Peace,Arun.

You can install a CAI on auto, manual 5 or 6 speed. Doesn't matter. Have fun!

The question is who is making one that fits on the 2005? I have a 2005 AWD, and was told the the CAI from Cosmo Racing will fit. Injen doesn't have one yet. But nobody talks about real ram induction? Why? I don't mean these things they call "short ram", I mean forced air induction through a scoop behind the front air dam. Does this cause problems with sensors? Has anyone tried it?

Cosmo, Injen and there are a few others that will work just fine, now I understand a few members here actually have a working ram air through a scoop but I forget who.

Has anyone tried it?It won't cause sensor problems, but genuine ram air is practically worthless below about 100 MPH; e.g. it would add ~ 3% power at 150 MPH, but only ~ 1.3% @ 100 and 0.75% (say 1 HP on a base vibe) @ 75 MPH.

There is no CAI made for an '05 because of the drive by wire set-up.
