Hi... and a new vibe

Post by tentdirt »

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself... I just bought a 05 platinum base model vibe a week or so ago while i was home for the holidays back in michigan...And i broke is in like any other respectable vibe owner would do-- loaded it full of things for my new apartment (taking full advantage of all seats down, and protected with the anti-fatigue cargo mat suggestion from this forum... thanks, really helped a lot!) ... and on thursday made a long (and pleasantly gas effecient) drive from sw. michigan to boston, ma....... a little less than 900 miles in one day, with it packed to the brim is a great way to get to know your new car.Anyways... just wanted to say hi.... i've enjoyed reading around this site, lots of great information.. many thanks!!B.R.

I averaged right around 30 miles/ a gallon (w/ pretty diverse driving conditions... mi to ma, by way of canada)... And there was definately an unatural lowering in full effect.... I was really impressed with the power i was able to maintain (I've been very use to my grand am v6, and it's peppy power)... So, before i even purchased the car I had convinced myself to expect much less power and peppyness.... But, during that drive- I was more than impressed... absolutely no struggling or bogging down... fun times.B.R.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new 'baby'.well, we'll be driving phil's base across canada from Ontario to Alaska (going up northern Canada so we only cross the border once). I've estimated the trip to be about 4300 miles in about 6-8 days with a stop over in Calgary to meet up w/ Vibechick and some of the Alberta crew. should be an interesting drive since we'll be wanting to drive as far as possible every day. glad to hear you were getting such good mileage with it loaded down as it was!
