Hey all...first post here and all (have been just observing for @ a yr now...)I have a question about a set of wheels...(and yes, I did a search before asking...)A fella at work is selling 4 Enkei RS-7 Gunmetals for $600, w/ 215/40-17s attached...seems like a good deal, but I am unsure of the affect it will have on the handling of the Vibe. I used the Tire Calc to assess the affects of this change on the speedometer, and it shows a -1.0% difference between the stock and the Enkei wheels and a speedometer difference of 4.4%. Is there any way on the Vibe to access the computer to alter these values to make them more accurate? Is this a good deal? Should I get the wheels and tires and install some 225 wheels? Any info greatly appreciated...I am more well versed in the realm of 2-wheeled vehicles, so this 4 wheeled modification process is new to me...Thanks in advance...
225/45/17 is what you want. There is no way to change the computer for tire size. The 215/40/17s are quite a bit too small. If the tires are in good shape perhaps you could get a trade in on the right size. The price is decent but not outstanding.
hi, welcome to genvibe!i do not know of any easy way to have the speedometer calibrated for different size tires. I think you can have it done, but it's not cheap. I was looking at swapping out my 03 instrument cluster because I like the look of the 04 cluster better, and found a company that can do stuff like that http://www.specmo.com/ I haven't ever used them, so it's not a recommendation, and maybe there is someplace closer to DE.
Thanks for the quick info...I am most interested in the rims, so the idea of letting the stock 205/55-16s run out and then just purchasing the 225s and putting them on the 17 rims sounds good to me. ...I know most motorcycle rims have a range, and this is the same for 4 wheeled vehicles also, right? (i.e.. I can put a 225 section tire on a rim w/ 215s on it right now...)Once again, thanks all...
If you used this tire calculatorhttp://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp it tells you what size rim you need for a specific tire size. If the 215 works the 225 probably will.
