OK, got home, nice weather, nothing else to do, CAI in the trunk, no CE light lit on my dash, found a 10mm socket in the garage. 75 minutes later my CAI is up and roaring. 15 minutes after that I'm roaring down a couple roads, playing with the lift, the sound, the joy, the lust. I think I threw out my knee hitting the gas so hard so often. Here's the story though:I've got an '03 GT. On the Injen site it shows the Vibe 1.8liter as model RD7025. The Matrix XR is p/n RD2075 and the XRS is RD2076. ptuning sells the 2075 for the GT, but that is the only place I saw the GT with a different model CAI listed. Only now did I find the thread here
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11975 about the part number. Too late. So, I install the kit. Things go pretty well, actually not a hard installation at all. I do have three concerns (maybe more).1. The corner of the battery almost touches the CAI pipe. I doubt I could slide a CD into the gap. I'm a little worried about some wear there.2. How am I ever going to afford to gas it up when I'm going to be on lift ALL the time?3. There are two hoses the instructions did not detail. They came from a 3-way T connection. One went into the factory air box below the filter. The other went into a vacuum-operated butterfly on the side of the air box. Obviously (to me) the butterfly is vacuum-activated and opens if there is too much suction in the air box. Having nowhere on my 7025 to put these hoses I removed 1 completly and connected the other back to itself, basically short-circuiting the butterfly out of the loop. Question is: Is my car going to brake/stop running/explode or anything? I don't think so as long as the system pulls enough air. But, I'm meeting with a car guy (Mercedes mechanic) tonight and I'll ask him.Pictures (No, its not clean. I'm just happy in runs! And DAMN does it run! I read everyone's threads about how cool it sounds and how it so seriously kicks (removed), but I never would have thought...DAMN!:EDIT: I had to edit this twice to get the pics right...
