16inch wheels/bald tires!

I need new tires more than anything right now. From a search I found out I need either 225/50-16 or 205/55-16 is taht correct?Also I found that the following are good tires to have all year-round: Kumho Ecsta Surpa 712Kumho ASXBridgestone G009If these arn't good let me know. I don't know anything about tires and I want something with fairly descent tread life, with well rounded traction for Michigan roads and winters, and most importantly I don't want to spend alot of money. I don't race so I don't need extreme tires please help! THANKS!

I went to discounttire today. The guy said Ecstas were great tires but he said I would be really disappointed with them in the winter. He told me he had the Ecsta 712s on his civic and they worked great. He was actually very helpful. He suggested the Pirelli 3000 or something like that. I forget what kind. He said they were very good in both snow and dry.I also stopped by Belle Tire and the guy there was a complete ******* and wasn't much help at all. He just said they could order the tires I wanted but he never went out to look at my car and see if he had anything that would work well.

I'm a huge fan of both the Kumho's and the Bridgestone G009's, but he is correct, the Kumho's lack a good winter personality. The G009 is a better all-season tire, esp since you live in MI. Go to tirerack.com, put in your vehicle info, and it will show you all the tires available for your car. Read the ratings (from the customer, not the tire company!!) and look at the pictures, and decide what you can afford, what you like, and what will last you the longest. I would advise against Goodyears, Michelins, Dunlops, Continetial and Pirelli. IMHO these companies don't build the quality of tire that they did in the past.Firestone/Bridgestone, Kumho, Yokohama, seem to be the most consistant, and provide the best quality for $$ spent.

205/55-16 for 2004 Pontiac Vibe 148 results for your tire size.Knock out Summer only tires.....72 Results....The Pirelli 6000 got a 6 out of 10 on the most important (to me) question, "Would you buy this tire again?"The BS G009 got a 8.1Yokohoma AVS db S2 got an 8. (I like the looks of this tire)Goodyear Eagle GSA (OE Tire) got a 4.2 (ROFLMAO)Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 got a 8.8!!!That's just a few.....but the best rated tire was an 8.9. Anything over 7.5 would be well worth looking at, to me.

I was curious to see which tire scored the 8.8, it was a tie.Bridgestone Turanza LS-V Rated 8.8Kumho HP4 716 Rated 8.8Worst?Bridgestone Potenza RE92 (any style) was rated a 2.2!!! Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!!

(removed)! My mom is complaining that I am goign to buy new tires. She actually said this to me "My tires on my taurus have been on for 30,000 miles and they are fine, you must be screwing around in the car if you need new ones at 27,000"!!!!!! I almost laughed in her face.

Don't overlook the Michelin Harmony. I had a set on a previous car and loved them! The best tires I've owned, in my opinion. Yes, they do cost a bit more, probably around $425 a set, but given the treadwear rating, you could get 60-80k miles out of a set.These tires have good dry, wet and snow traction as well.

The Harmony is not available in 205/55-16.

I almost laughed in her face.I need new ones at 19,500...and mine have been in pretty sorry shape since about 12,000. But if you do burnouts, I have to say that probably doesn't help matters any.

There's not really any good all seasons. Buy a spare set of rims from WalMart and stick a set of winter tires on them. For the summer try Michelin Hydroedge if the price doesn't scare you if it does try Bridgestone Tiger Paw Touring or for better cornering Bridgestone Tiger Paw H for about $5/tire more.

My previous Harmony tires were 205/55/16. I do believe that they are still available in that size. Tire Rack has them listed in a recent magazine for $95 each.

I did screw around in the car when I first got my liscense of course. The last burnout I did was in August at the Woodward Dream Cruise and I have rotated my tires since then. The thing is I have not been screwing around anymore since my burnouts except for maybe a little snow drifting o the ice and snow. I gues that may account for the rear tire wear but the front tires are just as bad...why would the front tires be worn?

Because when they get rotated, front tires become rear tires and vice versa, to keep the wear even...

hey i have the 712's from kumo on the front of my GT. let me tell you they are sticky. if u want something that wont break lose all the time these are the tires. i has them in the snow they did good i was very suprised bc everyone told me they suck in the winter but they are some good tires highly reccommend them

Michelin did a study about worn tires a while back, and we were shown this tape at our last tire sales meeting. I had always been told the best tires went on the front on a FWD, or the rear on a RWD, but Michelin proved that the best tires ALWAYS go on the back, no matter what driveline configuration......http://www.michelinman.com/dif....htmlh ... ..htmlBlew me away....I wish I could find the link to the video....maybe tomarrow when i am at work.

UPDATE: got the G009's put on this afternoon, and found a buyer for the Dunlop FM901's al in one stop. I can't believe the difference!! It's like a completly different car! MUCH quieter, and still very respondsive.... maybe the turn-in isn't QUITE as quick, but for the improvement in ride and decrease in noise, I am very very impressed.
