Hella H4 bulbs 80 watt

I found some of these bulbs on ebay for $20. Are they worth it? But they are 80 watts. Will that burn out the wiring. Same for the foglights, H3. http://www.hella.com/produktio...4.jsp

Hey...I bought the XP version and installed them last week. Comparable to the Silverstars and cost me $26. THose at 80 watts will probably not burn the wiring but it might. I wouldn't go that way. They're blue... Eurolite Fusions are blue, nice bright light. Whiter than Silverstars/Hella XP but not a intense. For $20 for 80 watt or around the same price for 55/60 watt Eurolite, not worth the risk. You could always wire in sockets that handle the extra heat. Pep Boys sells em. Can probably get em elsewhere as well. The big thing is they're not DOT approved where the Fusions and I'm sure other blue bulb 55/60 watt bulbs are.Dave

YES, 80 W is too much. STICK WITH STOCK WATTAGE.Take it from one who's been there.

Hi again...As I said, If you get stuck with the bulbs, you could always purchase new sockets that are made to handle the increased wattage. They generally come with long enough leads to get you far enough away from the source heat. Also, not all members have had bad results from the higher wattage bulbs... see http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=687 But again, as I said before, it's not worth the risk. Either sell your bulbs or get the higher wattage capable sockets. If you decide to keep em, give us some before and after pics.Dave
