question

ok guys .. I was filling up the oil in my dad's vibe (he toook it into an oil change) when I checked it there wasn't enough .. they didn't put enough) .. so I decided to top it off like how they were 'suposed to do' .. I guess I got a bit lazy and didn't have a funnel with me so I decided that since I regularily have very steady hands I would do it without a funnel.. well.. most of the oil went in.. but some poured into the side underneath the engine cover.. it wasn't too too much though.. but it was enough that I noticed that it missed a few times... do I have anything to worry about?? .. I'm kinda worried that the oil will ignite and cause a fire

You shouldn't have to worry about it to much unless you have a puddle of it somewhere that's going to get hot enough to ignite... I think a good idea would be to take it to a self service car wash and use a degreaser and then wash off the engine real good.. I've washed my engine several times... Just start it up as soon as your finished drive it a few miles and the heat will dry it off... If you don't get the oil off the engine you'll be smelling oil burning for a few days and maybe some smoke coming out from under the hood.. Not to say that if you don't wash it off, it'll be like a dirt magnet.. Next time take it back to where he had it changed and have them make it right..
