I remember watching a TV program about 8 years ago like 20/20 or Dateline that featured Barrow. They showed the price of a half-gallon of orange juice in the local grocery store to be almost $20. And that's when you were able to get it. That sure must be one strange place. The ice pictures remind me of what can happen if you park near Niagra Falls on the Canadian side during the winter. The mist continually comes up out of the river gorge and when the wind is just right and the temperature below freezing, it blows into the parking lot and you come back to find your car encased in a shell of ice. Not to mention the shrubs, trees, buildings, sidewalks, etc.For those pics, I'm not sure what good an ice scraper would do. Unless you're a Zamboni driver, you're not going anywhere even if you get into the car!

well, i was in barrow for 1 day and Atqasuk for another. it's about 60 miles south of barrow and is a village of around 400. here's the little plane i flew on. it was me and the pilot and a lot of booze in the cargo area. view of the village from the air as we landed. it was a bit cold, about -36 ° F.

Would that be in your "cargo area" or the plane's? lol.ha ha, so you're an Alaskan moonshine runner now? What happened, a bunch of commission checks bounce for you or something? And did you have to man the tailgun on the plane to shoot down any ATF chase planes?
