new vibe, hello and a stereo question

Post by jwalcik »

greetings folks.last night i picked up my shiny new 2005 vibe gt. it's moonstone, with the charcoal leather, moon and tunes, power package, and stock 17" wheels. i've got some pictures here (for anyone who may have forgotten what their own car looks like): http://www.notwithstanding.org....html i live in austin, tx and had to drive about 100 miles down the road to san antonio to pick it up (a dealer there had the *exact* vehicle i wanted). on my way back into town i made a detour to my mom's house to show her the new car, and apparently saved myself from driving through the worst of a hail storm that was sitting about 20 minutes ahead of me on the interstate. anyway, i've been lurking here for a couple of weeks and just wanted to say hello and ask my first question.the question is about something i didn't see in my first browsing of the how-to section. does anyone know where i can find a set of instructions for removing the stock head unit? in my previous vehicle, i used an auxiliary input converter to connect my ipod to an aftermarket alpine head unit. i'd like to do the same in my vibe, but before i spend $100 on the adapter (http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxgm.html), i'd like to have an idea of what i'm going to do when it gets here.hello again, and thaks!

The following thread by Ragingfish has instructions in the first part on removing the trim around the radio. The radio unit itself is held in by 4 hex-head screws, and just slides out when they are removed. It's fairly easy....the worst part is removing the connectors from the back of the trim.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5940Enjoy the Vibe, your Aux unit, and welcome to Genvibe!

Hmmm.... raging's server with the pics seems to be down. You can also look through this thread, though it's not as straight forward:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=769
