Coil Over Suspension

Post by Mr. Poopypants »

Has anyone installed a coil over suspension? I was looking into it. I want to know how it effects the ride, how much it costs and what brand, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

But of course! Here is a link to my thread on the subject, there are others, I am just too lazy to look them all up! http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1527

What did it cost, parts and labor? Or did you do them yourself?

quote:What did it cost, parts and labor? Or did you do them yourself?I did it myself. It was fairly simple, you just cannot fear tearing your car apart! The GC's were $410. All of the bolts are metric and a torque wrench is a must!! GC's instructions left a lot to be desired IMHO (hence the few initial mistakes mentioned in the other thread), but they do have pretty good tech support if you need it.

Did you add a camber kit or you left it as it?

Uh, as is! I haven't gotten around to having an allignment / camber check done yet. It has only been 2 -3 months!! LAZY AND BROKE! I checked my tires for uneven wear but haven't noticed any unusual stuff. Allignment seems good (drives straight, no vibe-ration) but that doesn't mean anything. I was trolling over at matrixowners.com and someone was mentioning their camber after using the eibach sportlines (2.2"drop) and it was something like 1.8/2.1 which is supposed to be within tolerance.

What drop did you get with your coil over?

I honestly couldn't tell you. The GC go from 0 -4 " and I have them almost to the bottom, to I would guess around 3-3.5. If I could find anywhere, what the standard ride height is, I could measure from the ground and tell ya!

Ok, this is silly but I measured from the ground to the cladding (the bottom of it, just above the lip) right behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel, 6". I do not know what that means though! Can someone measure the same from stioc ride height?
