Just got my vibe yesterday, and wondering if others have experienced both HP and mpg improvements with a CAI and magnaflow. Typically, helping the engine better breathe in and out makes it more efficient and it doesn't have to work as hard.I'm a V8 guy, and on my Trans Am, I had the highway mpg up to 26 just with headers, exhaust, intake and ignition and a chip. (I blew that though by working over the engine for the track.)

Congrats on the new vibe... and to answer your questions.. yes the first week I had my magnaflow exhaust and Injen CAI I noticed alot better HP & MPG on the highway.. but in the city... red light to red light hitting lift.. MPG suffers... buts its worth it to watch peoples faces when you hit lift and fly by them...
Yeah. The most I have ever gotten on my car was 390 miles to a tank. And that was approximately 36-37 mpg after my mods I have now. So, yeah. It helps if you don't have a lead foot either.Inder

On a similar note, I went through my first tank of fuel with absolutely no highway driving. My mileage dropped from around 26 to 21 MPG. Man, if I could only keep my foot out of it.

Thanks a lot guys!I assume the 2004 and '05 models are identical, so any 2004 part will also fit my 2005!?? I wanna order some parts now, any thoughts?

Finally ordered the Injen CAI kit for my 2004 Base Vibe from Ptuning, $194.95 delivered. This is the first performance mod I'm trying and hopefully the install will go smoothly. The first non V-8 vehicle I have owned since my FX16 back in 1987, old gear head in heart. In any case looking forward to making some of the other enhancements you guys & ladies have shared on the forum. I live about 20 minutes from Rt66 Drag Strip in Joliet IL and plan on seeing what the little fella will do this summer! Keep you posted and wish me luck with the CAI!
Autobarn shows they have a K&N short ram (polished only) for the '05 base vibes. I wanted red, but will wait for the Injen.Anyone know why the '04 Injen CAI won't fit a 2005? It appears like it should fit. If it's only small modifications, it might be possible.

I believe it is because the '05 has drive by wire throttle and not cable operated, so it's a different set-up. Check your engine to see. I heard that some early '05s still had a cable throttle.
Here is one for the '05 AWD(and I'm assuming theBase as well) from Cosmo Racing. It doesn't say if it is for DBW or DBC:http://www.cosmoracing.com/pro...=1023

Well, the Injen CAI arrived via FedEx from Injen.....Damaged! The mounting flange was actually protruding through the box and bent. Talk about a buzzkill. Had to file a claim with FedEx and appearently Ptuning won't re send another one until the claim is resolved approx. 5-7 days. Though with the price of gas araund here lately, $2.02 Reg, $2.21 Premium, it's probably a good thing.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]Can't seem to get pics to post?
So far, brand new 2005, I got 30.3 mpg 1st tank and 27.3 2nd tank. There will be some break-in time, so I hope it gets better.I rec'd my Magnaflow, STB and the CAI is on order (CosmoRacing). So I will track my mileage before and after those mods. The biggest problem I have with the Vibe is that there are so many out there. I just hate having the same car as everyone else. I must personalize it to make it different and mine! The windows are tinted now so that helps a bit.I like the idea of anodizing the roof rails black.

I have seen a few around these parts, but most seem to be stock. I think I'm the only one around that has modded mine.

You should see a few mpg increase, I don't know for sure how many though.

if i put an exhaust on the car will it increase or decrease the milage? I do not consider a intake since i hate the noise. I am a quite kind of guy. also does 26-28mpg average does sound ok for my ride?

If you replace the resonator on back, you'll see the best results. For combined mileage those numbers are decent.
where is the resonator? i am considering the exhaust. used to have a focuz intake on my mirage and was damn too loud. not into that, but exhaust is clean...
