AWD stuck in the mud!!!!!

Post by drunkenmaxx »

i went to a local club fri night and the place was so packed, cars had to park in the grass. i drove around for a minute and found a spot. well, i felt the wheels slip, then awd kicked in. then, i started spinning really bad and got stuck in someone elses ruts!!! i had no idea the mud was there till it was too late. (it was dark and no street lights in the grass) i tried and tried to get out, but after about 15 min., some heroes in a big truck pulled me out with chain. luckily, all it cost me was a shot of gold schlagger! my whole car was covered in mud, even the roof. it looked like a 4x4 that had been out having a blast. i spent 4.50 at the quarter car wash and it still isnt clean. oh well, at least i can see out my windows again!

Awe, you mean you don't want to be one of those really cool people that drives around with their muddy vehicle to show off that you've been muddin'? I'd be taking that thing to the wash ASAP also!

Don't take it in to get an alignment quite yet, homie - that shimmy-shimmy-shake deal probably isn't your alignment. I got my Vibe stuck in the snow (and it's got the 17's on it so it's got puny sidewalls) and when I got out of the snow it was shaking. It was just snow that got stuck inside the wheels & on the tires and made them unbalance. For snow all it required was a quick trip to the local car wash. However, for mud, you'll probably be just fine taking it to the spray-and-wash and hosing the wheels & tires down real good. Should get rid of the problem

i hosed them off pretty good with the high pressure spray, but maybe it still needs more...for the record, i didn't mean to go mudding.

Perhaps take it to a car wash that has the undercarriage flush option. That may help out if you can't get at it good with the spray & wash (I'd assume it'd be difficult to get to all the parts of your wheels & tires with that hose-nozzle deal).

I go to the wash around the corner from me, they have that bottom blast and I was leary of it at first but I have used it about ten times now and no problems.(knock on wood)

I hate getting towed... seen way to many accidents involving the tow truck. My old sunfire never pulled until the guy looped a chain around the right front control arm... was one of those flat bed trucks, my car wasn't starting. But I guess if your stuck, there is limited areas you can get to since its all in the mud.

My mom's old Blazer had two hooks in the front bumper that were specifically for hooking it up to be pulled or towed. It would make sense to put at least one similar hook somewhere under/behind the bumper on *every* car...but I guess the car companies like to think their cars will never need to be towed because they won't break down.
