Lift question
Lift question
Ok, I know this is gonna sound n00bish but what exactly is lift? I know it's got something to do with oil pressure or something and I know that it's a good thing. But can someone please explain what exactly it is and does? Thanks!

After finally riding in a GT for the first time this weekend, all I can say is that it is AWESOME! I wish I knew how to drive a stick so I could go trade my base in for a GT. Even the regular power is so much greater and smoother. That lift is just like a kick in the @$$ when your car thinks it's topping out! Thanks degenio for the ride!!! Sorry, off topic as I also have no idea exactly how it works, but I'll be interested to see!

Lift in a nutshell:Oil pressure causes pins in the rocker arms to lock which make the valve open farther

I don't have a Vibe any more, but I do have the lift. , and it is operated by hydraulics. There is a large hydraulic ram under one of the horizontal "runners" which is operated by a 2hp hydraulic pump which is mounted on the far corner post. The ram pulls a set of four 3/8" steel cables which are routed by pulleys and end at the top of each post. When the hydraulic ram is extended, it pulls the cables, and lifts the platform up for a total clearance of 70" under the platform. It's not fully put together yet. I just had a couple friends over last night to lift up the heavy cross members into the posts, and the "runners" up on the cross members. Those things are HEAVY. Now all I need is some time to get all the cables, hydraulic lines, and air lines (for the releases) fitted, but the hard part is done.

Very nice!I would love to have one but I guess a garage would be warranted first. Might look really weird to have a lift under my carport. Sorry for the hijack. Now back to the original topic of the thread.
