What's your "trash management" strategy?

Time for one of those crazy threads again!What kind of "trash management" system do you use in your car?I bought this at target: Works great...Has an elastic top to keep trash inside, the bottom is open to empty trash, rolls up and velcros shut.

Mine includes the cup holders, CD holder, Passenger seat, and occasionally the floor. I clean it once a week, it usually isnt that bad, but sometimes it gets a little messy.

center compartment for small stuff passenger floor or back seat floor for larger stuff

I eat at the kitchen table. What kind of trash do you guys speak of, if I have an empty can or something I throw it out when I get to where I'm going.

Trash Management: NO trash in Stella! She's still too new to me. I can take a diet Coke in the car with me but I throw the empty away as soon as I get someplace with a garbage can. I'm sure that will go away eventually, but for right now I like to keep it clean!

No trash management here. I toss it over the head rest. *gasp* Eventually it gets cleaned out of the back... Usually the only trash we have is fast food bags, so at least all my trash is contained in some sort of bag... and we don't go often to fast food.

I have the no trace left behind strategy. I alway make a point of taking out the garbage everytime I get out of the car at home.

I use the pocket in the driver's door. I try not to eat or drink in the car, so it mainly accumulates paper products (parking slips, receipts, kleenex's etc.). It is emptied out regularly and is easy to wipe clean.

My family has adopted 5 miles of hiway to clean 6 times a year, we have noticed that 90% of the trash is beer bottles and cigarettes. Budweiser seems to be the litterbugs drink of choice.If you want something to do as a family this is a pretty good choice. It teaches the kids many things. I am with most everyone else. I usually don't eat in my Vibe, and I usually just throw away anything trash-like when I get to my final destination. I am kind of a neat freak when it comes to vehicles.

I have an extensive straw wrapper collection going on in my driver's door pocket...heh.There are some water bottles behind my seat, too, but otherwise I try to throw things away periodically.

I guess I'm not the only one who finds driver's door pockets convenient for stuff like that. At least, that's what I did in my previous vehicle. The compartment under the shifter is pretty convenient-looking for small trash, but I'm afraid of junking it up.My "ideal" vehicle would have a deep vertical compartment that swung out somewhere, perfect for putting a plastic bag in to use for trash. I have a really bad habit of eating, drinking (water, etc.) and blowing my nose entirely too much (darn allergies/sinuses!) in my vehicle. I am still trying to figure out the best spot for the resulting trash in my new vibe... ragingfish's looks pretty cool, if it is easily reachable while driving...

A plastic grocery sack attached to the cupholder in the rear seat. Cupholder still functions normally, but keeps the bag from blowing around when it's empty. I empty it once a week, or whenever it gets 1/2 full.

My strategy is simple: Use the front passenger floor, the seat, and throw crap in the back. I'll deal with it all later. As long as it won't leak, stink, or become a biohazard, it stays in there for a while.Papers, junk mail, empty plastic bags, candy bar wrappers, straw papers, crap like that... I don't do the fast food thing unless it's fries or something, so I'll get rid of that stuff since it stinks, and also dispose of empty cups if I already have two in my cup holder. It's really sad. I used to have such a beautiful car inside and out. Now, I still wash the thing on just about a weekly basis but I haven't touched the inside in months. Oh well, the part everybody else sees looks great. dang it! Somebody kick me in the (removed) so I can get some motivation to do something other than sleep, work, cruise GenVibe.com, wash the car, and those service dept. visits. Other than that, I don't want to do anything anymore.

I take a plastic grocery bag and, instead of using it to strangle a - uh, well, never mind that - and I hook the handle over the lift-up part of the center console, hanging the bag behind the console. This way I can reach back to toss garbage, the kids in the back can throw their wrappers & cans away, it is easy to clean and cheap (free) to replace.The only thing in the driver's door pocket is maps & directions printed off mapquest. Center console is for gloves & CDs. Little door under shifter is for pens, pencils and tire pressure gauge. Glove box is for manual and reams of registration and insurance documents that I never throw away.Now my last car...back seat trash dumping all the way. I'd only clean it out when the sound of empty cans rattling around was driving me nuts.

It's a tad bit nasty and in need of a waxing, but, eh, it's cold outside. I'll do it in March, or maybe April, or maybe May. I have done a better job here lately of keeping the water bottles out of the rear floorboard, by throwing them away once every week or so, or else taking one out of the cupholder and actually throwing it away when I accumulate two in there and need room for something else!

My trash management: Keep my wife out of the car as much as possible! it's amazing...she can spend a few minutes in my car for a short drive to the store and the next day i'll find everything from wrappers and lollipop sticks to tissues and pop cans in my car....amazing!

I don't normally eat in my car, but always have tea/water/Starbucks. When all four cupholders are full, it's time to take out the trash. (The two rear cupholders are great for empty water bottles. ) I bought a CD at Best Buy the other day, and the wrapper is still in the console in front of the cupholder.

I usually have some fast food bag in the passenger seat catching what little garbage I generate in the car. I do have a rule though - WHEN GAS IS GOING IN, TRASH COMES OUT!!It's easy, put the nozzle in, hit the clip, clean out the trash accumulation while the tank is filling up. With as much as I drive there ususally ain't much to clean out between fillups.

If I have any trash I take it out when I get out, but if there is something left behind I empty when I get gas. Don't leave anything big, maybe straw wrappers, gum wrappers, or something small like that. I try to keep it junk free for the most part, but I always have 2 tool boxes, 2 cd books, and other misc crap in there that clutters the back seat floorboards!

(removed), clever use of space Raging. I remember back in the day when I worked at the golf course. I would smuggle alcohol in the spare tire compartment and then sell it to people at school right out of the back lol. Kinda like an ice cream truck. I made soooo much money off those losers at my school. That was when I was 16 though I've matured considerably now The only loose things in my car visible to the human eye are two cd books, maybe a bottle of water in the cup holder, and my amp under my passenger seat. I never have any garbage too big to fit in that little hole above the cup holders so everything goes in there and then leaves with me as soon as I get out of the car no matter where I am. Sometimes I'll even stop somewhere just to throw a piece of paper away because it bugs me lol!!! Psycho...

Dont let any of my cars get messy I dont eat or drink in the car to keep stains off the seats and floors the only thing alowed in my cars are water. Then when its gone I stop somewhere and throw it away.

Thank you to whoever gave the tip about anchoring a plastic bag to the rear cupholders. That is working very well for me! Now I just have to remember to put a new bag in there since I threw one away...I can't seem to avoid wrappers and kleenex in the car, and if there isn't someplace to put them, well, the car will get messy. Onboard trash recepticles are good things

(removed)! There you have it....I don't think I've used kleenex in my car before...I gues if I have a runny nose I just completely forget about it while I'm having so much fun driving my car. I think I've useda napkin once or twice but I put them inside an empty water bottle to make sure they didn't touch anything.

There's absolutely NO FOOD OR DRINKS allowed in my car. I take pride in having a the "new car smell" lingering after having the car for a year. With friends, I make them finish eating or drinking before getting in.One time I had to take my visiting soon-to-be mother in law back to the airport. I stopped at a local gas station to fill up and my girlfriend and her mother went inside the store. I cringed when I saw them both walking back with LARGE cappucino's in hand ! I didn't have the heart to say anything so I just took ALL the turns really slowly the whole way over to keep them from spilling. The smell of their drinks almost gagged me!The only time I have trash is when I open up some gum. The wrappers get stored in the tray at the end of the center console until I get to a location with a trash can.

Absolutely, and if you get caught with trash in whatever your running...its a long time before any of the guys will leave you alone about it. Youd be surprised how lazy a guy can be...be running something at the fill face and cant muster up enough motivation to throw a cup or wrapper out the window.
