Tire size summary

I have done some searching but have not found any real good post that talks about what fits and what does not.To be more specific what are the tire sizes that fit with stock ride height and lowered ride height, what offsets are needed with different tire widths and is there any rubbing with the setups people are using?An example of how we set this up at an Elantra forum was like this.2001-2005 Elantra stock tire 195/60/15Upgrade to 205/55/15, 205/50/16, 205/45/17 for the same speedo reading. These sizes will also all work with stock or lowered as long as a 45-40mm offset is used.215/45/17 can be used with a 40-45mm offset but will alter the speedo slightly and may rub slightly in the rear of the 5dr when lowered if a 40mm offset is used.Is there someone here that knows these cars inside and out to make a post similiar to that? It seems obvious that 225 fits but does 245 also work trouble free stock and lowered? Also what offset is needed for best fit?

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlIt says it's for a Miata, but if you put in your stock size and replacement size, you can see if it fits right. There's also one on tirerack's website.

Also what offset is needed for best fit?I can't answer all you questions.. but I have done research and have found that 30-35mm offsets work with standard ride hight... but I would like to add anouther question to this thread... will a 225/40-18 fit on a 18X7 rim ? also here are tire sizes I know work on the vibe215/50-17225/40-18225/35-19

I have passed the speed readers and they show the same as my speedo. Those are on 19 x 8.5" riims.

Ok here are a couple important questions.What is the stock offset for both the 205/55/16 and the optional 215/50/17 on the GT? Since those tires sizes are 2.4% different in speedo reading does Toyota/Pontiac calibrate the cars with the 215/50/17 different?

Damronjr, if you car had 215/50/17 as the OEM size then the size you listed is going to be much taller then the OEM and throw the speedo off about 4-5mph.Regardless do you get any rubbing and how much is your car lowered?

I haven't had any problems at all, except when I put spacers on my rear wheels, which, not only looked dumb, but also rubbed the inside of the fender when I hit dips or bumps. My Vibe is lowered about 1.5" all around with the Eibach Pro-kit drop springs.

Well 205/55/16 to a 235/45/19 would put your speedo off by 6mph. Any idea what the offset on your wheels are that allows them to fit with no rubbing?

Here is a quick list of the best sizes i could figure out for the Vibe with stock 205/55/16 or the stock 215/50/17. Now i just need to add the details about offsets and rubbing issues if any.The first number is the tire size. I can't go and look at the rims right now to see, but that is what is offered by Axis.

Are you sure the tires you have are 235/45/19 and not actually 235/35/19. They don't look like a 235/45/19 from the pictures. If they are actually 235/35/19 that would explain why the speedo is accurate since that size would be almost the same as stock.

I guess I am a dumb-@$$! I can't see the offset as I think it is shown on the inside of the rim.

Yeah, I planned to put 225/35/19's for my new tires as that is what is recommended as the correct tires for my car having 16's to start with. Does this sound kosher?

Yes, 225/35/19 would have been only .3 inches larger than the 205/55/16 overall diameter.
