As in, there is no way in hell that you NEED one of these, but you want to make a statement about who or what you think you are. You're a girl.... you can guess what kind of statement these monster truck buyers want to make, can't you?

I can just see the opposite of this post on a Manly Man's Truck forum..."Man, look at all them sissies over there with their reworked Toyotas making fun of my big manly truck! I'm sure they're just jealous of my inherent and overwhelming manliness!" I suppose they could try to run me over in my Vibe...but they'd have to catch me first. That top speed of 72 mph wouldn't be too much help. Heh.

I was about to post a new thread for this, but this thread is real close. This is the new International Truck. They have a SUV version as well. Reminds me of the "Canyon Arrow" from the Simpsons. I think this falls in the same category as the HMT.

I think it's a converted garbage truck with a new paint job. This seems to be a lame-brained marketing attempt by a surplus military vehicle seller. At the bottom of the web page, it says "Homeland Defense Vehicles" with a 2005 copyright. They must have a bunch of these ugly looking things sitting around and they've tried to come up with some marketing scheme to help unload them by making them manly and cool or whatever. They failed miserably, I'd say. The trucks still look like a converted garbage truck crossed with an older Nissan United Diesel cab-over. lol, nice try, but it's still ugly. And slow. But those International CXT's are friggin' SWEET! I'd love to have one of those! It would be cool to do that with a Peterbilt.

I bet the Abrams could boast the largest capacity cupholders, too! With 1500HP on tap, it could eat the "manly" garbage truck thing for an after dinner snack. And the reactive armor will more than adequately protect the occupants from the less-than-peaceful militant Greenpeace activist wackos. The fully equipped models come with a 120mm Howitzer, .50 Caliber Heavy Machine Gun, and two 7.62mm M60 GPMGs to discourage other ELF nutcase activists from joining in.

I'll take one please EDIT: After a brief search, I found nothing with regard to a flamethrower-equipped Abrams, so maybe it's just that badass when firing it's 120mm cannon

lol, yes that one is a "deluxe" model, equipped with a flamethrower--probably capable of roasting 100 militant eco-hippies at a time. Here is a "base" model, equipped with regular ordinance being used by the U.S. Army on a firing range at Yakima:

You must be a Snap-On ToolGuy then eh?As far as the HMT being a garbage truck, I dissagree. The military sells off their inventory in auctions when vehicles start to cost too much in repairs to keep. Companies and individuals purchase them and do what they wish, and that includes the HMT's company. Yes it is a bit odd as far as a bad boy truck, but can a garbage truck be used as a missle platform? Can a garbage truck do this on everyday commutes?

I know, that's why I wrote this about 10 posts ago...Quote, originally posted by Stang2Vibe »This seems to be a lame-brained marketing attempt by a surplus military vehicle seller. And slow.I know that they're ex-military vehicles, I was just saying that they looked like converted garbage trucks, not that that is what they actually were.Could a garbage truck be converted to be a missile launcher? Well, that depends on the weight of the missiles and how many of them you want to carry/fire. Garbage trucks around here are rated to carry as much weight as the largest commercial dump trucks on the road, so if you wanted to spend the money on it, you could turn one into some kind of missile launcher. Can they splash around in the mud? Sure. Many of them are also equipped with driver-activated power dividing differentials just like their commercial vehicle bretheren. These trucks are often purpose-built to be used as off-road construction vehicles that can handle rough terrain while carrying a heavy load--garbage trucks are just another adaptation to the chassis. Will the military trucks do it better? I'd sure hope so. That is what they were built for. But it doesn't mean that a garbage truck can't.The military trucks shown seem to be moderized versions of the army's old "deuce-and-a-halfs" that are upgraded to carry much more weight.

I see where you are coming from Stang, but you are giving me images of the most bad-(removed) garbage truck ever.
