Ragingfish says "Friends don't let friends listen to paper cones..."

Which translates to: Ragingfish got new speakers!A HUGE thank you to Jahntassa for his help in installing these today...he even tuned my amp for me! Without him, I would have been lost! Oh, and an even BIGGER thank you to Jahntassa's wife for putting up with us "kids" and boring her out of her mind!System:Amplifier: Audiobahn A4004T 4-channel ampFronts: JL XR650.CSi Components (thanks to NY Pete for the speakers and custom mounts!)Rear: Polk MOMO MM6 ComponentsPics:Removed the passenger front seat to yank out the stock components and work on the new ones...New JL's up front:College furniture!New amp starting to go in...We removed the M&T amp from it's factory bracket, cut the raised side off, and used that to mount the crossovers for the front door...Rear speakers going in...the ever so brilliant Jahntassa used, what are they called, metal straps used in radio installs to allow us to mount the crossover in the hollow opening in the rear doors...as he put it, "creating a mounting hole where there isn't one."Amp installed.Stock speakers removed, awaiting new ones...New Polk tweeter installed in rear door panel...Jahntassa installing the crossovers...A garage full of vibes! That's all I have for now.I spent so much time playing with my new system I forgot to take finished pictures...So tomorrow, final install pics!

Yeah, he was almost an Infinity boy, but I quickly pushed him in the right direction. It's actually not bad...now if I can figure out a 'stealth' subwoofer for him, he'll really be able to enjoy his system. Aahahaha...i'm such a bad influence..

Keep us updated on the overall longevity of the system.... I learned my lesson the hard way about putting things inside the vapour barrier on the door - if the vehicle is all year driven its not long before moisture present /in/ the door finds its way into the crossovers.Otherwise looks good....bmoney

Only problem i've ever had with corrosion/rust on speaker components is on cars where the water actively drips on the speakers/components themselves, such as in my previous Ford Probe's front doors.

How come you didn't mount the tweets in the sail panels of the front doors? Do you already have the moon & tunes tweets up front? I just got a pair of top of the line Audiobahn tweets for the sail panels since I don't have moon and tunes. Now I have 4 times the tunes (tweets and subs) but still no moons lol.EDIT- Never mind disregaurd my question I answered it myself

A few more pics: Jahntassa cut off the one sidewall of the old M&T amp mounting bracket and used it to mount the front crossovers. The amp under the seat, from the front. The crossovers fit PERFECTLY on top of the amp...

Looks great, but it also looks like the amp's intake is blocked by the xovers...

There's a good inch of gap there. Plus, the crossovers 'hover' about half an inch above the amp itself. Since it's an intake amp, it's got it's own fan (which you know) that'll help any heating issues. There's pretty good space around the sides, so it shouldn't have a problem.
