Which one is that? I have the ACT XT clutch. The pressureplate makes the pedal pretty stiff, but not unbearable. I don't mind though, as it holds for the power I'm putting down.

Hey DopeVibeGT, so how does the new clutch feel compared to stock? I'm assuming it's the HD w/ street disc, rated at 233 ft/lb's torque capacity?Dope, Devlop, Faultline & anyone else with A/M clutch experience..I found a deal where I can pick up an Exedy Stage 1 w/ organic disc for $250 flat - brand new, but it increases the torque cap by only 40% over stock, so I'm assuming that translates to about 185 ft/lb's. IF I ever do go F/I - even if only a 50-shot of nitrous - will I need to upgrade yet again?I can also get Exady's Stage 2 for ~$300 flat, which comes with a 3-puck disc, and is rated at 82% torque cap increase, so about what your ACT is rated for, but the last thing I want to sacrifice is driveability. Even though the clamping loads are the same for both Stage 1 & 2 @ 1540 lbs, wouldn't the 3-puck disc engage and idle harder than the organic disc? HEre's the stats:Stage 1:Quote »Description: Exedy Stage 1 - Single Plate Organic Clutch Kit - 2000-04 Toyota Celica GT-S 1.8L (2ZZ-GE) Torque Capacity Increase: 40% Clamp Load: 1540 lb.EXEDY Racing clutches with organic friction materials use only premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst. Increased clamp loads give the necessary capacity to handle modified engines. The driveability will be like a stock clutch. Pedal efforts will be higher because of the higher clamp loads. All of our clutch discs have high capacity spring center dampers to reduce the drive train shock and impact. Stage 2:Quote »Description: Exedy Stage 2 - Thick & Thin Ceramettallic Clutch Kit - 2000-04 Toyota Celica GT-S 1.8L (2ZZ-GE) Torque Capacity Increase: 82% Clamp Load: 1540 lb. EXEDY cerametallic clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high power modified engines. Our cerametallic friction material can handle much more slippage than stock type disc assemblies without slipping and fading. All EXEDY cerametallic clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce the impact and shock loads put into the drive train. This protects the transmission and the rest of the drive line system. We offer two types of cerametallic discs -normal thickness and reduced thickness. The reduced thickness (thin cerametallic) discs offer greatly reduced inertia to improve shift efforts, make for faster shifting, and improve synchro durability. These discs are approximately 1/2 the thickness of a stock disc. The normal thickness (thick cerametallic) discs have better heat capacity and therefore better durability in demanding applications such as all wheel drive. Even with the normal thickness, our three puck cerametallic discs still typically have less inertia than a stock disc. With any cerametallic clutch system, there will be some compromise of start up driveability as compared to a stock clutch (chatter on light throttle, low rpm start up). This characteristic is generally felt to be acceptable in modified performance cars. Drivers of cerametallic clutches on the street should be warned not to "ride the clutch" to try to reduce the chatter as this will greatly increase the wear. The only Stage 2 available for the 2zz-ge is the THICK Ceramettallic.I've been bugging the guys at matrixowners.com all day, so I figured I better leave them alone! Ugh, too many options I need help lol PS Faultline, can you get a deal on that RPS clutch? How's it feel vs. stock now that it's broken in?PPS My budget for the clutch alone is $300-$385 or so. The fact that I can get the Stage 1 for only $250 flat is tempting!thanks

I managed to get a deal with a guy at AutoZone (I think, or Advance Auto Parts) who got me a stock replacement clutch for $105. Pressure plate, bearing, alignment tool and organic disc. It's holding better now than the stock ever has, already has 2500 miles on it and I can actually chirp the tires more often than not!
