Dude, calm down. Pricing and availability haven't been officially released yet. The only info so far is "Available early 2003". Whatever price you heard probably isn't official.Check it out:http://www.pontiac.com/pontiacjsp/vibe/ ... vibeacsprv
Yeah, so? There is nothing there that says the actual price of the body kit. It says BELOW $2000 and that includes the paint and installation. Unpainted ones you install yourself will be even less.
I wish it was less than $1,000. The Matrix front and rear extensions are only $270 installed. I know the GM body kit includes extra's like side rocker panels and 2 spoilers. I thinks that is worth the extra seven hundred and thirty dollars, don't you?
I'm not 100% sure about this but the Matrix kits are extensions that attach to the stock front and rear facias. The Vibe kit replaces the entire front and rear facias.

quote:270$ installed for the Matrix Kit????What are they made of? just a plain bumper on a car is usually 300-400$ (CAN) without paint or installationIs it just a strip of plastic or what?It includes the front extensions on the XRS, the rear bumber extension on the XRS and the fog lights on the XRS. Its is referred to as the Sports Package option on the XR Matrix. The now have two new body kit options for the Matrix one is the TRD kit that is way overpriced ($4,000) and a new sports plus package and that is $1600 I saw the kit on a precisiontoyota.com instock vehicle. include sports seats and some other stuff including the bumper extensions. I didn't see a difference in the picture so I assume it is a dealer added option.
I just got a flyer in the mail from my saleman. It invites me to come get a sport package "waiting to be unwrapped and installed on your Vibe".It claims it includes: - Front fascia extensions- Side rocker extensions- Rear fascia extension- Dual rear spoilersNo price listed, and (no surprise) the parts dept. manager at the dealership where it came from knew nothing about it and can not find any pricing or source for this sports package. But I placed a call to the salesman and he's supposed to call me back with any prices or availablity or the sports package or supercharger.KSNeptune.
According to one of the first press releases the spoilers are the only things you can purchase seperately. The front and rear extension and side rocker panels are suppossed to be purchased together.
This is that other sport package offered by the toyota dealer for the base Matrix. I copied it from their web site. Okay....I understand that there is no set price, but that is still ridiculous! I can't believe that these people expect us to fork over even close to $2000 for this kit. That is not worth it, it is just plastic...cmon mannnnnnnnnn. You gotta be kiddin'? When the kit comes out, there will be someone selling a kit elsewhere that will work just fine, and it will look just as good. If the kit from the dealer cost more than $1000 to $1500, I will not be buying it from the dealer. And the body kit only comes painted for a selected few, and my color is not one of them. It says that you can order it primed if your color is not available.I just got off the phone with the dealer, and the kit is not even available yet. Those do do brains in the parts department didn't even know what to look for when I called. They asked me where I saw it at? And I was like......duhhhhhhh, it's on your website dummy! They are soooooo stupid at times.

Notice how the "spikes" on the sides of both the front and rear are gone. If the extension just bolted on under the bumpers, the "spikes" would still be there.Front Stock:Front Sport:Rear Stock:Rear Sport:If they aren't whole new facias, they at least cover a good portion of the original facias.
IMHO it looks like the extention just covers up the spikes and is moulded to the already ezisting flares. Maybe the reason why it has to be bought as a complete kit is because the front, rear, and side pieces cover the existing flares to make it appear more seemless.
That is why I asked in the first place, why are they asking so much for that kit? I think it is no where near the worth over a $1000. They are crazy....

To me it looks like the spikes are definitely covered. Look at the extension on the front. You can see the seems where the extension is covering the bumper.

quote:If I had to guess I beleive the "extensions" actually cover half the factory facias. See yellow outlines in below pics:Think you nailed it will the yellow line. Good job. And we do not have to speculate, the info says extensions, not fascias.
quote: . The Matrix front and rear extensions are only $270 installed. That price is for the factory sport package option, which can not be used as a yardstick for afterbuild parts.Looking in the July 2002 Motor Crash Estimating Data Book (at Body Shop near youngest's daycare), I looked at the parts for the Matrix.Front Spoiler, Center (7608202900) $115.18Right Front Extension(7685102900) $185.20Left Front Extension (7685202900) $185.20Rear Spoiler, Center(7687102901) $336.16Center Retainer (7686502030) $ 22.98Right Rear Extension(7689502900) $ 94.97Left Rear Extension (7689602900) $94.97Thats over a Thousand Dollars for the main parts not including some small parts I didn't write down and retainers. It also had 5.2 hours for Painting but no suggest labor for installation. So we can see how quickly things can add up.
Was thinking, that wing below the rear window may come in handy. It could keep water spray off the rear window. In the winter time, the rear window can become very dirty.
