Door handles for the Vibe?

Post by kingvibe »

I noticed that on the monotone Vibes that the door handles appear to be metal as apposed to the two tone Vibes that has plastic handles with the same texture as the cladding. If the handles are the same can they be changed out? The reason I want to know this is because one of mine has split in 2 and needs to be replaced. So since the cladding will be painted sometime this year I was hopping that the handles on the monotone Vibes would work so we can save time painting them.

I believe the handles will be the same physically, just different appearance. And from previous experience, not sure if that is the case with the Vibe or not, but on one car I used to own with painted door handles, they were available prepainted as replacement parts. So if that's true, you could get a new set ready to be installed... That was like 10 years ago on an Oldsmobile, every color door handle could be ordered. Possibly it would be the same way with the Vibe, or maybe they're just paint to match. Hard to say.Curious about the breakage though -- does it look anything like the post here? http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=5687This was a LOOOONG time ago, the door handle broke on my buddy's Vibe.... Did yours break in a similar fashion? And if you decide to get 'em, let us know how much they are! I'm dying to get these faded things off my Neptune and get some body-color handles on there!

No. It split right down the middle. As I was opening the door it just broke in two.
