I've noticed ever since i bought my 04 vibe that very often the radio disorts. It does it with various cd's so i know it not the cd's. Obviously when it's louder (2 fulls bars and one notch) it is more easily noticeable? Any suggestions? BTW i have the moon and tunes package with the 6 speakers.
replace your speakers. the stock speakers are basically paper so they wont produce a really clear sound. even lower end aftermarket speakers will give pretty good improvements

ya, the stock stereo speakers suck. actually the stock stereo is pretty crappy, typical toyota lame stereo, even the "premium" sound package. all it has are 2 tweeters and a 200 amp so it can sound loud and crappy. lol. replaced all my door speakers w/ decent walmart specials. ended up spending a lot on the amps and sub however... still, my stereo rocks, even if the sub takes up 1/3 of my cargo space
the radio is ACDELCO GM radio, the one in your Vibe and mine Hope is also the same radio in the montana vans and pickups, no connection to toyota lol.Sure its all stock stuff but I have had no problems with mine, eventually I may replace it for something better because of course there is something better, there always is.

I replaced the door speakers with Sony Xplod XS-V1630A's. I cut out the stock speaker grills and used the ones that came with the speakers as well. Looks nice, IMO.

ok so i fixed the rattle above the speedomoter gauge. Unfortunately now i'm hearing a rattle from the middle around the radio. It starts at high speeds (65 and up) and it un noticeable at slower speeds. Any suggestions????
I don't remember if there is a common rattle from that area. I've been in there, but can't think of anything that would necesarily cause the rattle. Can you affect the rattle by pressing on various trim pieces, the radio, the air controls etc?
i tried pressing on various things, but it didn't help. Like i said it is noticeable at low speeds. I drive the thruway almost every day and its very noticeable at thruway speeds, and very annoying too. Anyone else have this problem?
there are a bunch of rattle threads, search for rattle and see what other people have had, hard to know what rattle you are having, perhaps the one discussed in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7956 ?
train wrote"well after 4 trips to the dealer and basically getting BS everytime, i guess they decided i was not leaving tell it got fixed. They heared the noise from day one but just kept trying to say the noise was from high rpm driving and was just going to happen. but after talking with some upper ups at the dealer, the service department finally took out the radio area, and added some foam spacer/shims into the spots where the air duct and vent for the windsheild touched loosleys against anything. works great no noise every gear from idle to red line. I put the car through it all and i can't get it to make the noise at all its great to finally hit lift without some buzzing noise in the dash. "is this something i can do myself or recommend bringing it to dealer?
OK, I would recommend the foam shims, you can make these yourself. If you look in there and see some rubbing spots, I would shim them.If you were aftermarket, I was going to recommend looking a the mounting kit. I had a vibrating problem with mine, it was the radio and lower compartment on the adapter occasionally hitting together, a little foam tape took care of it.

Grip it from the bottom above the A/C controls, gently pull out. It's hooked on the top, so you need to get it at an angle to release it from the dash. You also need to disconnect the A/C buttons to the left of the radio, generally i'll carefully pry at the plastic at the top and bottom (on the back) to get the whole module to release. Then you need to disconnect the three harnesses at the top, and it's free.

something i noticed the other day....i was driving along and i heard this strange rattle that sounded like it was coming from the centre of the dash. as i drove at the rpm range that caused the rattle, i leaned forward and noticed that it almost sounded like it was coming from the rearview mirror! I have the map lights there and thought that the switch or lights were vibrating....further investigation showed that it was the garage door opener on my visor (which i've NEVER put there before) that was vibrating. For awhile there i thought 'GREAT! now i have to take apart the whole dash!' boy do i feel stupid now!just thought i'd post this before somebody else makes the same dumb mistake and starts worrying!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
ok guys i got the middle dash out and i still can't pin point the rattle. I tried touching things, pressing up against things, and i still can't seem to get it to stop. It sounds like its from the bottom below the temperature switch, but i'm not sure. anyone???
i taped all those stupid plastic clips, snapped it back in and its still making the noise??? Also now i'm hearing an intermittent creeking noise from my gauge cluster. ?? Any other suggestions, i hate these NOISES
