yeah they are my winter tires.. although many people are on 4seasons here.. I find that the winter tires give me the extra 'grip' I need in snow and ice.. less drifting though.

Hard for some poeple to see where you are going with your car but I can see it! Your pride and joy! Who makes your fog lamps? Sucks you have to run your front plate, would look good in the grill work under your bumper but I suppose you tried that.
Good Stuff R W, keep it up and have fun! I don't mind the winter just get rid of the damn road salt!!!!

What kind of car is a Honda Civic, cheap commuter perhaps. There seems to be a couple of tuner parts available for them as well.

the corolla has the opportunity to be way sportier than the vibe will ever be. also, arent corollas lighter? that being said, a maxed out corolla would beat a maxed out vibe wouldnt it?any car has the possibility to be fast...

definitely.. my corolla weighs about 2500 lbs.. I believe the vibe is 2800ish??vibe and corolla has the same engine.. basically same everything.. my engine is the same as my dad's vibe base..I have no doubt my corolla will beat my dad's vibe .. but that's a different story..

And you know what, even if it is somewhat INEXPENSIVE, it is by far not "cheap."I'm not a fan of the term "econobox." Just because a car is inexpensive, or maybe light on features, does not mean it's an "economy" car. To someone who has little money, a Hyundai Accent with manual everything and nothing but an AM/FM radio could be the world. Not all of us have just had a brand new car handed to us by mom and dad...Quote »Just because they have the same motor doesnt mean they are the same cars with the same purposes. That is completely unrelated to anything being discussed. "Purposes?" It's a freaking car. It's for whatever purpose you need it. Work. School. Family. Last I checked, all cars meet those "purposes."
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Quote, originally posted by rAERRK »Just because they have the same motor doesnt mean they are the same cars with the same purposes. And so the Corolla simply being a 4 door car and the Vibe being a 5 door station wagon (mini-minivan), most commonly used for carting families around town, how does that make the Vibe "serve a different purpose" than a Corolla? And what purpose exactly is any random 4 door car serve according to you? You haven't had many insightful or positive comments since you came on the board. Does it make you feel better about yourself to be a d^&* to everyone else who is here to chat, be friendly, learn new things about their cars, and ( ), find new ways to mod them? Just curious and sorry if I upset any mods, but this guy has been a punk since he came to the board in nearly every post he has made and I think it is time someone said something where everyone can hear it. We need information and positive reinforcement. While CONSTRUCTIVE criticism can be helpful, always putting people down does nothing for anyone here. I'm sure the mods will delete this, but hopefully you see it before they do.

Everyone hush, we all know the only cars worth modding are the Viper GTS, the Honda S2000, the Ferrari 360 Spider, and the McClaren F1. All Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, and etc are thusly designed only for communting, and not modifying. And i'm sorry, I forgot to mention, you can only use the cars for the sole purpose as advertised by the manufacturer, anything else is thusly useless.Any car can be modified. Putting a 'fartcan' on a 84 Corolla, changing out the ignition for a switch/pushbutton ignition, and an amplifier and subs. It's your car, and for many people, an extension of their attitudes, likes, and dislikes. What something is 'meant' for is totally irrelavant.

I would like to modify my Vibe to be more like a Corolla The US Government's "standardized" fuel efficiency ratings for a 2005 base 5-speed Vibe are 30 city/36 highway (US mpg). For a 2005 base Corolla 5-speed, the ratings are 32 city/41 highway. Since these are the government test results and not manufacturer propaganda, there is some credibility that the Corolla gets better gas mileage. Whether anyone actually gets the rated numbers is a topic for one of the 147 other threads about gas mileage here on genvibe, but those numbers for highway mileage say the Corolla gets 14% more miles per gallon with the same HP ratings. I would like that extra 14%. Maybe the difference is made up in the Vibe being heavier and the two cars having different aerodnamics, but if anyone knows another (customizable) difference that Vibe owners can do to make their cars get Corolla gas mileage, let me know, because I did buy the Vibe, among other reasons, as a cheap commuter car. I'm not a "tuner", but if someone wants to tweak to get every tenth of HP possible, or sculpt their car into a piece of modern art, I figure it's their car, go for it. ( I reserve the right to laugh at the really ludicrous mods though) It's a good thing people are different or life could get boring.
Very well put, Damronjr. look-I finally got it right I would expect those type of comments on other boards, but not on genvibe. My limited experience here has been great. The people seem genuine, and eager to share ideas/comments/questions. Thanks for putting this guy in his place.

sorry this is turning out to be a 'flame war'.. a moderator should lock this thread..no offense or anything.. but if a person decides to mod his corolla.. then let him mod his corolla.. if a person mods his geo metro .. let him mod his geo metro.. just because you have an opinion on not modifying cars that are not 'worth' it.. then what is? not everyone can afford a viper.. I pay for my car.. I pay for everything I own... maybe because your mommy let you drive her vibe.. so you can save up for your supra .. 'Modifying' you can call it is a hobby.. it doesn't matter what car it is.. if it's an econobox.. just because I mod my corolla doesn't mean I'm a looser. just as if you would modify your vibe.. I don't go around calling everyone who drives a vibe or matrix's loosers because they .. put a spoiler package at the back of the car.. my point being.. that might be your opinion.. you are entitled to it.. but you don't have to flame about it.. yeah sure you made a point.. that you think that I should take of my exhaust because my car is a econo box.. but that's YOUR opinion.. there's nothing you can say or do that will make me do anything I don't want to do..

OK. I missed this until now and while things seem to have settled down, let's be sure it doesn't come back to life. The argument is now officially over!
