Post by zionzr2 »

Wanted to know how many people use the headrests....esp the rear ones.I my-self have removed the rear ones so that i have a better field of view out of the rear.

I have all in place right now, but you have a good point about the rears. Mine never get used and only block my view. getting rid of those today! Don't know why I never thought of that!

One head rest

Post by vibe-04 »

Since I'm the only driver and I commute or drop my son at daycare, I have one head rest. Driver's. I fold down the passenger seat for my son in his car seat so he can see the road. I keep his toys in the passenger foot area. The rear(s) are removed for better shoulder check. I keep one spare in the car that fits the rear or passenger for a guest. Repost Clarification: I always use a head rest and anybody in my car must have a head rest. The exception is my 16-month-old who has an Eddie Bauer 5-point car seat. I even swapped seats in my old Bronco II with Escort seats with head rests. I don't want anyone to think I'm driving around waiting for whiplash, something I don't wish to have happen to anyone.

When I was first driving my Vibe and getting used to the overall size and restricted rear view, I folded down both back seats to increase rear visibility when I didn't have a rear-seat passenger.

No big deal if you remove the headrests when no one is using htem, but they should be in place at all times when the seats are occupied. They are there to help reduce whiplash in the event of a collision. While they don't work as well as they should (per recent IIHS testing most cars failed), they're going to be much better than having no headrests at all.

I voted other. I usually have three in place, but removed the one for the rear driver's side seat. I keep the driver's seat fully back, and when I fold down the back seat the head rest rubs the back of the driver's seat and catches on that elastic pocket on the seat back. The head rest is always in the car if it's ever needed. A lot of the time my rear seats are folded down, so I hadn't noticed any visibility problems from the head rest on the passenger side rear seat.

I have all 4 in place, but was thinking earlier today that I wish the rear has a hollow, or at least a mesh insert for better visability. I might have to visit a salvage yard to see if anything like that fits.
