Aftermarket Receiver

Post by Mr. Poopypants »

I have a one year old receiver that was in my Lumina Z34 and I want to put it in the Vibe. However, I'm sure you have all noticed that the stock stereo has a larger face (by height) than most. The adapters for the aftermarket head unit look really goony. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to get my receiver in without it looking like crap? I would really like it to mount almost flush if possible. P.S. I like the stock receiver but I can't attach a CD changer to it without a major electrical engineering feat.

Any special considerations to hooking up the antenna to an aftermarket radio? I heard something about a factory antenna booster that has to get a 12v turn-on lead?

What head unit do you have? I have the standard one (no moon and tune) and I used the standard GM antenna adaptor, the same I used in my Cavalier and my Montana.

I have the standard 4-speaker. You don't have any trouble with even AM reception?
