Hiya folks

Post by AireVibe »

Hello, been lurking for a while here....... just signed up. I'm in the process of getting a Vibe. It seems I can get a better deal on the 2005, but looking to get just the base. My main concern is that I want to get the standard 2004 (due to it coming with sideair bags and the other stuff that is now options)But due to what the dealers have and how willing they are to get them.(local dealer told me that their was no 2004 5speed within 300 miles--- was a lie, I found 4 at one dealer 50 miles away on their site)It looks like I might have to get a 2005 automatic, so I was hoping if I could get some feedback on pro's/con's with the 2005 auto'sI'm going to be using it for school (100+ miles a day) and for just running around. I stopped driving over a year ago, and I'm trading in my caddy and jeep on it..... enviromental bug bit me, so bye bye my big 8's and hello 1.8 lolBy the way, great site........ a bit part of my picking Vibe over something else was you folks (anyone know when the hybridVibe is comming out....... chuckle)Aire

We picked up an 05 auto and we also sprung for all the abs and side airbags. Seems to be okay, the only downside is that it will shift early until it's warmed up.2.5k miles so far, she gets about 28/29 to the gallon, I manage to get 27 or so. I have a big foot.

Welcome! We purchased an '05 automatic on 10/30/04. We get an avg of 30 mpg. Our driving is mostly stop & go, no real highway. Traded a 2000 Durango because we commute 70 miles a day and gas was killing us. Overall we are pleased. It is much easier than most small cars to get in and out of.

I have an '03, but if I could go back in time I would have definately gotten a manual trans. I'm kicking myself for it. If you love to drive and want to feel like you're in full control of your baby than I would recomend waiting and getting the stick because you will be upset that you didn't later down the road

Havent heard any real complaints about the 05 so it should be a good choice. Welcome to the forum.

I don't believe side airbags were ever "standard."They've always been an option.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Welcome! If you really want a manual trans, you'd be better off to wait for it. You don't want to kick yourself later as was said before. Autos are great for stop-n-go, but at the risk of starting (again) the manual vs. auto debate, I prefer to do the shifting myself.Just a thought...or two...

Welcome to the Encylopedia of Vibe!If you're doing lots of stop & go driving in congested urban areas, the automatic is probably a good choice. It's incredibly peppy for a 4cyl with automatic. Those 16 valves and variable cam timing make pretty good power.

Cool... Good luck, and I hope you find what you're looking for! Maybe it will be worth the drive for you. Don't know why, but sometimes it is challenging to track down a Vibe that's just right for you...I know around here, my dealer only has one type of Vibe in stock, ever - base, automatic, moon & tunes, alloys, power package, maybe cargo nets if you're lucky. If you want anything else, it's dealer trade, order it, or drive a ways to go somewhere else. Which wasn't a problem for me, since they had exactly what I wanted in the first place. So keep looking, I'm sure one will turn up for you if things don't work out this weekend!

Well it was nice for a bit......... dealership lied to meI spent all that time making a sweet deal and signed the paperwork.then 2weeks later, told me they can't give me 0% fincancing.Since my Mom in Ca was going to use her GMAC 0% (bought 2 so far with 0% and they offered to do it again) the dealership here in Cary, NC said "NO PROBLEM" did alll the paperwork, gave me the keys, with a dealerplate and said " come by next weekend and pick up the temp tags. Well I went last weekend to get the temp's, and they said "NO WORRIES" we haven't sent the paperwork yet. Then I hear that they told my Mom that they couldn't give her 0% financing, but could do it for 18% (prob baised on my crummy credit) Anyway those hacks came and picked it up from my house yesterday morning.Just to spite em, I'm having them deliver my trades to another dealer, and buying a 2003 base with under 18k miles .... outright (maybe I'll use cash)DO NOT TRUST ....... Hendrick Pontiac in Cary Auto Mall, Cary NCI'll post pic's once I got my new "sightly used" ridelateAire

Woot Vibe saga is done, I ended up with a 2003base 5speed, in that firey red color, with 17k on it.I now understand that car dealerships and all the salesfolk I met in aquiring my vibe are agents of satan. No offence to any folks here that might be evoled in such endevours, but it must have been my bad luck for I found them at every turn.I ended up giving them my 2 trades, and 11k, and I have the temp tags on it, in my driveway......... and the title on its way.I'll get some picks this weekend, and post em, till then, I'm just gonna recoverAire
