Dealer damaged my Vibe, so I traded it in....

Post by QUIKAG »

I've been thinking of getting a pickup truck as it fits my needs and lifestyle better at this point in my life. So, I've been working on a deal for a new Silverado for the past few months, but hadn't really done much as the trade-in value on the Vibe apparently isn't too good.Well, on New Year's Eve I take my car to a local dealer to get it appraised and the owner's son backs it into a truck that was parked behind it. I saw the whole thing happen.I had a deal lined up with a buddy at a GMC dealership on a Sierra and figured the deal was blown now that the Vibe was damaged. I tore into the owner's son and he promised to make it right.Well, he ended up giving me a somewhat fair trade-in on the Vibe and hooking me up on a new Silverado.I'll still visit from time to time, but I'm back in a truck. The Vibe GT was a fun ride, the truck is definitely a lot different. No point in comparing the two.

That's funny, I traded my full size pickup truck in when I bought the Vibe. You're so right, there's no use trying to comapre the two. I still miss the truck, ( but not at the pumps. )After he trashed your car, I hope he gave you a more than "somewhat fair" deal. So, what color/options did you get on the Silverado? And please check back on us from time to time, you'll be missed.

I got a 2004 Silverado LT black with tan leather. All the interior goodies, 5.3L motor and the 4L60E automatic. It's a good truck, mileage is rated at 16 city, 19 highway, so that is quite a bit different than the Vibe GT. Luckily, the truck only takes regular unleaded versus premium, so that will help a little bit.I did get a more than fair trade-in and got a killer deal on the new truck. I am starting a lawn business on the side in addition to my regular day job, so the truck is a bit more useful for that function. I will still check in frequently, you guys/gals are a lot of fun.

Thanks for the recommendation!I'll have to get pictures up as soon as I can take some. Digital camera isn't charging the battery for some reason, so it's been dead for a while..

Hey guys (gals!),It's been a while since I visited this site. As you can see from this thread, I traded my Vibe GT in on a Silverado pickup. I still have the truck and like it, but I miss that 2ZZ engine with the AEM intake at 8200rpm. The darn truck shifts between 5200-5600 depending on what gear. Not as much fun. :DAnyway, just wanted to say hi and I still look at Vibes when I see them around, though I very, very rarely see a GT. I do see a decent number of base Vibes.I guess quite a few people have the supercharged base model now? When I left this site last time, the supercharger had just been released. So, is the base Vibe with the blower more favored now than the GT?

I didn't think anyone was serious about wanting to see pics of a 4x2 black extended cab pickup with the stock 16" wheels. I'll try to get some pictures uploaded.Bummer the SC didn't sell better with the base model Vibe.
