$371 starter??????

Post by burrpenick »

Mine wont engage and thats what the dealer wants for a new one. I have heard the contacts may be bad. THe dealer also says the 2002 Corolla should fit, any ideas here. Auto Zone wants 188 for the Corolla one, no listing for the 03 Vibe. HELP!!!!!!!!!!penick@netetally.com

Are you over your warranty, if not, I don't see why the dealer wouldn't fix your starter. If not, did you try a junkyard or even ask for the Trix starter.Inder

There was one on Ebay about a week or two ago for $24.99 and the auction ended with no bids. Maybe it has been relisted.

doubt you'll find any used starters for a Vibe from a wrecker, not many wrecked/salvaged. But if your Vibe is not under warranty, a new starter at that price sounds about right. Not sure why your dealership would even recommend a corolla starter. Very weird.

I can vouch for the LKQ sites. We get a lot of Engines from Crystal River, and never had a problem yet.

Just like I'd never go to a (removed) house looking for a wife, I'd never buy a used part for my precious Vibe. (And yes I am married but using the phrase as an example) Around here, no you can't find Vibe parts at wreckers... Florida maybe, its a bigger area.

No wrecked Vibes here either... For that to happen, that would necessitate dealers actually selling them, in turn having customers drive them, and finally wrecking them. The first step doesn't happen, so none of the rest do also. lol! Just checked GMPartsDirect... You can get the starter from them for $216. Cheaper than getting it from the dealer. But not as cheap as the other place that had it..GM PART # 88969483CATEGORY: Starter MotorPACK QTY: 1 CORE CHARGE: $0.00GM LIST: $433.55OUR PRICE: $216.77

Used parts for Vibes everywhere! And most salvage yards ship anywhere now to stay competitive and have internet sites. Vibe are wrecked everyday in every state since MY 2003, used parts are out there. Checking yards that deal in GM's only, you will find them.
