hondata already makes one for the 2ZZ. it costs $85 what it does is seperates the intake manifold from the head to reduce ambient temps from heat soak

only in theory. I havent seen any before/after dynos of it. I've talked to 1 person who actually installed it but he just wanted to have it. didnt actually care if it really worked lol so he wasnt gonna spend money to dyno it.

that will do nothing for ya really lol only ting that will work is a crank pulley. but because they are undampened you DON'T wanna get one. the oil pump gears on the 1zz and 2zz even more are not that stong. the unbalanced harmonics will destroy it. has happened more then a few times to the celica people.

Yep, thankfully, I was aware of the crank pulley issues. I know a matrix owner had a problem with his Unorthodox pulley too. I just picked up the AEM "kit" (lol) for the looks and because I got a good deal on it
I've seen those spacers before for the 2.9l Fords and some "claim" they increase HP because it allows the intake to remain cool, relative to the engine, therefore allowing more dense air to mix with fuel. However, others believe better money and time is spent polishing and channeling any intake resistance (i.e.: porting). (This all asumes you've have a cold air intake and have beefed up your exhaust [headers, high flow cat/exhaust] AND juiced up your fuel inake (injectors pulse width ect. After all, an engine is nothing more than an air pump, of sorts) Most engines have poor air intakes and can benefit from porting. I'm not sure on the Vibe's cause I've got a 15-month-old so my time to strip and rebuild is limited (And I've still got to fix a tie rod end and U joint on the truck) but if you ask me, more oney than they are worth. A dyno would set the story straight. cheersA
the 2zz intake manifold is not horrific. but it could use a lil sprucing up. the exhaust manifold though can result in a 5whp increase from porting it. several peopl eon the celica boards have done it and hit those numbers.

With a long manifold, and especially if it's plastic like a base Vibe, I can't see it having appreciable effect. One easy way to check would be after a hard drive to compare the temperature (even just by touch) of the throttle body vs. other nearby metal parts (preferably the CAI duct). If it's not noticeably hotter, then a spacer can't help.
