Just cruisin the net and I ran across this:http://store.racerwheel.org/d42-thc4402.htmlI thought that DC sports only made a header for the 2zz.Inder

Matrix 00-04? Funny, I've never seen a 00, 01, 02 Matrix. If they messed that up, they probably forgot the S on XRS also.

Here's what their site says:http://www.dcsports.com/product_headers_app.aspLast I heard, they had initially decided that the Corolla part worked for the Base Vibe and XR Matrix, until a disgruntled customer pointed out that the Matrix exhaust manifold had an O2 sensor and the Corolla did not! Now they seem to list the Celica part as interchangeable. Guess someone needs to buy one to find out for sure...Here's a thread by our Matrix cousins on the subject:http://www.matrixowners.com/mo...30035

Okay, so for this, I should ask DC Sports cuz this does not seem real accurate. Since the fact that it says 00-04 Matrix XR, which is messed up. Anyways, yeah, but I will contact DC Sports/Injen and talk to them. By the way, DC Sports and Injen have actually merged as one. But they are still keeping their names though. But now you can buy a Injen exhaust which is actually made by DC, which is kinda cool, I think.Inder

Nope. AEM is still it's own company. Injen and DC combined. I think that's pretty cool myself. I've had great expreiences with Injen, and I know a lot of people with DC Sports header/exhaust say that they are pretty well made. Inder

I know this thread is three weeks old, but I wanted to clarify something. I use the DC Sports Celica GT header on my base Matrix. The header fits, but it doesn't have a bung for the O2 sensor. You can use it, and have it work great, but you will have a CEL (like I do) until you install an O2 sensor.

Fellas, the Vibe GT and Celica GTS both have the 2ZZ. The Base Vibe and the Celica GT both have the 1ZZ.

I think that's the point. The Celica GT engine and header are identical to the Base Vibe's EXCEPT that the Celica's O2 sensor is downstream from the header. When DC Sport test fit it on the Vibe, they overlooked this, and so declared them interchangeable until Doc found out different the hard way. DC knows about it now, so it should be pretty simple for them to weld in a bung on the Celica p.n. to accommodate the Base Vibe. For the cost involved, they might be better off with just one p.n. and supplying a plug for the bung when using it in a Celica. BTW Doc., until you get the O2 sensor installed, your engine will not be able to re-tune the AFR for the header, so you may be missing some of the performance gain...

I tested this using a G-Tech performance meter, which isn't as accurate as a dyno, but gives good approximations. I double checked the whp results using my 0-60 time (curb weight in kg/0-60 in seconds = approximate bhp) After adding the grounding system, it went up to ~145whp.

That pretty much voids all warranty on your engine does it not?

It voids me emissions warranty. Toyota would be hard pressed to say that ground wires void my engine warranty. Remember, they have to prove that a mod is the cause of trouble. Missing the first O2 sensor might make me run a little bit lean, but Toyotas are tuned rich to begin with, and it's nothing that would damage the engine. Worst case scenario, I don't get 32mpg in the city and I'm an LEV instead of a ULEV.

this post is a lil old but the DC sports header for the 2ZZ isn't worth it. I gained .8 whp peak, lost a lotta hp here and there throughout the powerband and only gained 1 wtq. the base run was I/E. the header vs stock gained 10.3 whp. my car was the prototype car and this is what it got.

no, I was refering to a stock 2zz. for example,we took a 100% stock 2zz(celica) and added only the header. we gained 10.3 whp. then we took the same 2zz and added I/E we dynoed 170whp 120 wtq. after adding the header (making it I/H/E) we dynoed 170.8 whp and 121 wtq. make sense now ?

Sounds like either testing anomalies or a calibration (e.g. too lean) problem. There is no other logical basis for the header to be effective only in the absence of a muffler and CAI/SR.

180 hp that the factory rates it is NOT whp. also the dynos were done 3 runs each way and at the same temperatures to ensure accuracy. one thing you'll find is tha tthe stock header for the 2zz is NOT bad. only ting thats gonna show big gains is a true 4-2-1 race header. there are some very expensive headers out there for the 2zz and the most anybody has ever dynoed was 5whp gain from a $900 header. it was only done on 2 cars. everone else even with the same header made lil to no gains. this has been a largely discussed topic in the celica forums.

2ZZ engines do well with a port and polish job on the stock header, as they are exceptionally built. On the other hand, the 1ZZ, as an economy engine, will see greater results from mods, since I/H/E really open it up and increase its aspirative capacity.
