our engines???

i was wondering.iam new to toyota products and eas wondering if the timing belts in the base vibe are chain or are they belts that need to be changed every 120,000 kms........sorry if this question has alrady been posted.
LOVE THAT VIBE 2003 Satilite Silver auto.......188,000kms.2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer White 4.2 Inline 6 291hp auto.........156,000kms.

I believe all Toyotas have timing belts. I may be wrong though. The reaosn I say this is becaues when I change my brother's oil, I see a chain where I put the oil in, when I do mine, I don't see anything.Inder

well the base has a chain like at 2.4 gmi have one now with a rod knock at 38k

Yep, timing chain for both engines. The knocking you're having... Is that when the engine's cold? Just curious, mine sounds horrible when cold, but the knock goes away when the engine warms. Definitely doesn't sound good, but the dealer can't figure anything out.

Pennzoil 5W30 since first time I changed the oil at 1500 miles.

well its good to know that..alot of teh old hondas had belts that needed to be replaced every 120,000kms....lots of $$$ money to do that...chains are better stonger and likely never need to be replaced.

actually they recoomend to change at 192000 KM .. all 1ZZ FE and 2ZZ GE motors are timing chain...
