Well it looks like I experienced one of those rarities that would occur in 1 out of 500 vibes, but starting with the hood.. I noticed a paint run under my clear coat that was about the size of an outstreached hand. It showed a foggy smear. Taking it to the dealer, the body repair boys said that it was probably due to an unwashed hand, or it touching another surface before painting. Well, the repair was done under warranty (2 days - with free rental pos) with even better grade paint.. and it looks really good...!!!#2, the door molding is begging to pull out on both the driver and passanger side door frames. New moldings are being installed on Tuesday (also under warranty).#3, right above the door handles, you will see the faux aluminum strip that is about 7" long and really shiny... well the plastic coating that covers the shiny plastic is detioring and flaking off, so while the door molding is being replaced, I will be getting new door panels (I was really surprised with this one since it is such a small piece)...also under warranty.. To give you a sense of time to when this is beginning to happen to me... I purchased my Vibe in March of 2002 and now have a little over 12k miles... still a great car !!!
just got back from the service dept... and here is the results... the inside first.. now... here is the problem... the window molding was only beginning to pull out in the front part of the glass, and now after replacement, it appears that the rubber is too big !! See for yourself.. The servicer that did the work showed me the box and part number, so if I demanded to have it done again, I would probably get the same part, thus the labor has nothing to do with it... From up close, it looks like the rubber that is in the window track is too long, but if manually cut, it may compromise the slit that is for the window to rest in.. so now I have a "rain channel".. So would anyone have a clue where to go from here..??

See for yourself..I have read about a few other Matrix owners (on other Matrix forums) that are having the same exact problem. Unfortunately, in your case, it seems the Toyota dealers are correcting this problem alot more efficiently than Pontiac dealers.quote:So would anyone have a clue where to go from here..?? Do you have another Pontiac dealer within a reasonable distance to you? If so, try them out. If not, I would go back to the original dealer that did your initial service and see about having it redone (maybe by another tech?)? Contact Pontiac Customer Service if you feel necessary as well.
Contacting the Pontiac Customer Service may be the best bet, I have played with the molding a bit, and found that the molding will not push any further into the channel... I measured the channel and compared it to the molding, and then inspected the molding to see if it could be cut to fit, but as I expected, the cutting would come very close to cutting into the molding's channel, hence making 2 pieces.. and no rubber for the window to settle into.. BAH!!! this stinks.. I will post anything I hear back from the Pontiac folks... wish me luck..
