Cosmo CAI install

Post by knoxville2013 »

i recieved and installed my cosmo cai today and was not all that happy with the product. Lets just say the pipe wasnt bent very well...i had to do some "modification" to make it so the filter could fit on. But i got it all to fit somehow and it works great. I wish it would have been made better.

Yeah I did. I bought mine frmo Devlop for $75 though so I don't really care! I had to take a block of wood and a hammer and persuade the tube a bit so it wouldnt put too much pressure on the headlight housing. You can't see the dent or anything so I personally don't think it was a big deal It's not that it's a cheaply made product its just that they were slightly off in their measurements. All CAI are in essense the same, aluminum tube, cone air filter, so it can't really be cheap. It works beautifully though!

yeah what i did was took the little hook that was supposed to sit on top of the vibramount...bent it straight out...and slide it under the hole where the intake goes in. it drops the filter down a little farther than its supposed to but it is still well protected and doesnt come near the foglight housing. I would take pictures but im an old school photographer and all i have are 35 mm manual cameras..haha

Yeah, the 03 and 04 base Vibes have no difference in intakes. But if you were to have an 05, then a 03-04 base intake would not fit. Inder

well i dont know what happened with mine then...the only problem was the last bend in the pipe wasnt bent straight down but rather towards the fog light...so it just sat on the foglight housing with no way to get the filter on...oh well...i got it to work

LOL, that's all that matters. I wasn't about to go and spend $200 on a CAI so I'm glad I got this good of a deal. Like Sunny said, you pay more for the name than you do the actual product. I don't want to put a rice list on my car so the nme doesn't really matter It sounds nice though doesn't it!
