In July 2004 (2nd month of ownership) I got a speeding ticket, going 86 in a 70 in Tennessee. I guess the cop liked my Vibe GT better than the pickup truck that was going 95 in front of me.... I should probably pay that ticket off, its been almost 6 months now.... Ooops!

Ooops!Yeah cops tend to either pull over the car that is easiest or the nicest one. I had a '99 Dakota and I was in the middle of a pack of four cars on a two lane highway. We were all doing the same speed, around 55 in a 45. The cop decides to pull me over instead of anybody else. The only thing that I can think of is because I had the nicest vehicle in the bunch. Cops, never there when you need them always there when you don't.
Around here, they usually pick on the cars that have modifications done to them. I know cuz my brother and I have been pulled over too many times.Inder

Seems like every time we head to a show I seem to get pulled over just so the officer can look at our vehicles. It really sucks and is cool all at the same time. Our cars are usually very radical and get a lot of attention so they want to look too. They make up a BS reason to pull us over and then just want to look and ask questions about the vehicles then forget to say anything more about the reason we were pulled over in the first place. This is VERY messed up. MAke us all paranoid then do nothing!! Its just cool we don't get any tickets in the process.

Having a neat car can work in your favor. Many years ago I had a '52 VW with a '61 Buick aluminum V-8 in the back seat. One night I was airing it out pretty well through the suburbs when waaay back there I saw a cop car coming my way with his gumball lit. This seemed like the time for the Go rather than Whoa pedal, so I flat-footed it up to about 100 MPH...and ran out of gas! I coasted to a stop, and as the two cops ambled up to my car, all I could think was: "OK, who can I call to make bail?"Well, when they got to my window it was: "Wow! (removed) you got in this thing? It's a rocket! Let's see the mill..", etc. I gave them the two dollar tour and they walked back to their cruiser mumbling and shaking their heads and drove off. I hadn't had the nerve to ask for a lift to a gas station...
I was doing burnouts at the dream cruise and a some cops on bikes were gunna give me a ticket but the crowd was booing them and told them to let me go lol. The cops like "come on man you're ina Vibe, that's just rediculous" so I said "well yeah but you gotta gimme credit for actually holding it long enough to get smoke!" He kinda laughed. I don't think he liked the Vibe...I did hw ever impress the crowd. I heard comments like "Holy sh*t that was a Vibe!!!" or "Man I didn't think Vibes could do that!"
Cops in my area (middle of the state) usually target the out-of-state cars. They figure out-of-staters are less likely to take time off from work to come back and fight a ticket. Most of 'em will just mail in the fine.

Wow, I've never been ticketed for tinted windows. I was warned in Texas, but never ticketed! That was in my S-10 that had blacked out front and rear window! I drove around SD for 2 years in it and never even got pulled over! Thus far I haven't gotten pulled over in my Vibe yet either! Must be lucky or you just got a bored cop!

lol, did you kick him in the junk?I've gotten pulled over 5 times for neons and gotten 3 tickets for them. 3 of those times I accidentally hit the switch, which was by my left foot on the floor (so I moved it next to the hatch button and bought a toggle switch to prevent accidental turn ons) I didn't have to pay any of the tickets fortunately. First one was ripped up, second and third were dismissed. IDIOT lol.

I got pulled over again today, but I got off. I had my Millitary uniform hanging in the back seat and I told him I work for the state (its true). I wasn't intentionally speeding, I just wasn't paying attention. When I saw the cop behind me I looked at my speedometer and I was going 80 in a 65. Ooops. Its so easy to speed in that car without even knowing it.
Is very weird,many time while i speed a cop's crossed me and didn't pull me over,like i doin 95in zone of 50.I knock on wood,i don't search the police,don't complain,but my vibe seem's scare the cop's
about 4months after i bought my GT i was teaching my wife how to drive a mannual. we were sitting in a median when a state cop pulled up asked if we were ok. then he started asking me about the vibe and that he thought about getting one. he asked if it was fast......what do you think i said lol thought he might warn me or something lol
actually there's no preference in who we pull over...whoever is speeding at the time...you see we can't pull everyone over because we're only one car....and we're always there wether we're needed or not...hated when we're not needed...loved to death when we help someone...and yes, i do drive a vibe...Quote, originally posted by redlava »Yeah cops tend to either pull over the car that is easiest or the nicest one. i've actually done many mods to my car...and plan many more....the guys i work with don't tend to pick on cars with mods because most of have modded our cars...Quote, originally posted by TRD4reel »Around here, they usually pick on the cars that have modifications done to them. what i love themost is when people whine and bellyache about getting a ticket...like it's the end of the world...it's great when you're having them sign the ticket and they're screaming bloody murder about how you have nothing better to do than write tickets, and how you've ruined their day...in 2001 i wrote a ticket to a lady for driving 85 MPH in a 50 MPH zone...she railed on about the ticket being too expensive, blah, blah, blah...what she (and most others) failed to realize is that i had just earlier in the day finished working a THI (traffic homicide investigation)...when i rolled up on the scene (i was the first there)...there was a 9 year old boy clinging to his mother in the middle of US HWY 19, screaming at her to wake up...half her head was shaved off from the pavement...the kid just didn't know she was dead....i also had to notify the husband of what had happened...so i had had enough, and i just looked at the lady i was giving the ticket to and told her what i had just been through, and that her ticket was insignificant, and she should get over it...she filed a complaint on me, but it was worth it....so, just remember that when you're complaining about some ticket you received...
My sister lives/works in Lafayette (sp?) and our parents live north of there. I've driven through Lebanon more times than I can count, and have never been pulled over. Does the Indiana State Police still use Camaros? A few times I should've gotten a ticket, but whenever I saw any newer Camaro, I slowed w-a-y down.

I have been pulled over a total of 4 times for speeding. Out of those 4 times not once have I had a ticket. 3 vernal warnings and 1 writting warning. Most interesting time was about 2 months after I got my Vibe GT. It was about 2am in the morning, just after work on a long straight 2 lane road, with NO cars around at all. That was the night I found out the vibe can do about 130mph Needless to say, an officer was sitting in one of those lanes connecting the two sides of the highway. He cloked me doing 212 KPH. He put on his lights, and I immediatly shut it down, pulled over, turned off the car, turned on my inside light and had all my paper work ready when he came up to the car. He came up with a smile and asked me if this was really a vibe, because he had no idea a vibe could do over 200kph He gave me a verbal warning about driving slower, and admited he probably would not of bothered to chase me for very long if I continued to go, and thanked me for stopping.
Had a nice discussion with an officer during a license check roadblock, he was thinking about getting one for his wife. He asked me a bunch of questions then walked all the way around the Vibe checking it out.
