I was driving home from my girls house on New Years Day when I came up on some road that had the cracks fixed the week before with tar and stones. There was a long convoy of carscoming towards me and when they passed by a got pelted with 100 or so of these little ******* stones. Needles to say one of them made it through my windshield. Happy New year!! I was wondering how/if that can be fixed or do I have to replace the whole windshield? I hate not having my car in perfect condition! I thought I heard some where that they can fill in the hole and buff out the glass and it's invisable. Is that true? And how much would that cost?Any advice would be great!

Well Lancer, it not a big deal depending on size of the crack. Speaking of which, you don't want to leave it too long, especially with changing temperatures inside your Vibe. Glass companies usually charge about $25 Cdn. for this repair. Its certainly cheaper than having to replace the glass with each incident. Assuming you do not have glass insurance coverage.Sometimes the crack cannot be filled perfectly, and you may have a small mark on the winshield. At least the spreading of the crack will be halted.

All depend the size of the crack. If it is smaller then a quarter, it an be fixed. The crack won't totally diseapeard, unless it is very small but it will prevent extension of the crack. I got a small chip in my windshield on my older car, was about 1/4" long and I have it fixed. It is very hard to see where it is. The tech made a good job and it was covered by my insurance. It cost me 30 mins of my time, that`s all.
I think you answered your own question--You like having your car perfect --Well then why not a new windshield. I'm sure your insurance will cover it minus deductible.I have heard and seen repairs made where you can see an imperfection if you look closely.Your Vibe is new and its too soon to start shortcuts on repair ---Keep it new and you'll feel better about it.James
