Transforming two-tone to monotone

Post by POLO »

Hi,today i went to the dealer for semi annuel expection,i tought it was free of charge, becausse they send me a invitation to check up,but it was 80$ for check up only,i was sure that my baby was ok .My aunt have a chrysler caravan, and she say that they don't charche for check up.Returning to subject,i ask to the dealer the cost to paint the cladding to transform to monotone,he refere me the bodyshop section who the director of the bodyshop section of my dealer say that the cladding is not to soft to paint, that if he paint, the paint will pop out after 1 month,so he say forget the painting,if you want absolutly change all the section of cladding,300 $ pieces=more than 2000$-3000$.At that money i can buy the supercharger.

That seems a little ridiculous! I think at that point I would shoot for the supercharger as well if I was going to spend the $$!

You said the body shop manager said the paint will come off after a month. How does GM make it stay on then? Sounds like the guy didn't really have a clue what he was talking about.

I hope the paint will not come off.I've got my bumper painted after I been rear-ended....This was 3 month ago and the paint seems to hold properly

Hi Sam,i bough ma vibe from the gm parkway dealer, before i bough the vibe i visited almost every gm dealer, they where the cheapest the price. But for the service i regret it,there are a bunch of ignorant. When i wanted to commant a set of splash guard, they didn't know that was a new for 2004 two-tone for the front, they say me maybe is for us market. So i command from another dealer(Bourassa pontiac buick inc),and i receive my command in 24h after. So,i see that the important is not only the price you pay for the car,but for the service is important also.It will be a lesson for the next time. You Sam,what is your dealer.

I bought my Vibe at Boisvert Pontiac. Service is number 1 over there but they are quite far from my home, about 45 minutes away but well worth it.When I was at Royal Lasalle dealership, they were painting the plastic cladding on a Aztec and it looked really good. Maybe you should give them a call

I'm very confident the 2 tones and monotone cladding are the same. They just prime and paint it for the monotone.Anyways, the cladding looks the same once the paint is chipped. With the right primer and a good paint, it will stick with no trouble. But for sure, painting the cladding without primer and Tremclad paint, it will not last very long.

They boys at the paint shop at Royal did a wicked job on that Aztec but they did tell me it cost a few dollars to do that, wish I had taken a picture of it though...
