Rotten Egg Smell

Post by Dragonfly »

I'm the proud owner of an 05 Vibe. Love the car - hate the rotten egg smell. I've got just over 2500 km on the Vibe and still I smell rotten eggs - going through the drive thru at Timmy's is embarassing. Turpin's said it's normal and will go away after 10,000 km - does this seem fair to all of you or has anyone else been experiencing the Rotten Egg Vibe aroma as well?

Hi Dragonfly, congratulations on the new car and welcome to genvibe! The rotten egg smell happens to some people and doesn;t for others. I have only had it happen in my car a few times. Some people say that it is due to a high sulfur content on the gasoline that you are using and that switching gasoline brands helped. Some say it is the type of catalytic converter used in these cars. If you do a search on "egg" you can find a couple of previous discussions about it

Thanks for the suggestions - will check them out - Till then, you'll know what Vibe is mine, just follow the rotten egg smell. Maybe I should just drive to Thurso, Quebec, the real home of the rotten smell - lolThanks again and thanks also for the welcome
