I really don't like their new format of naming the "best" for each category. I liked it better when they simply named the 10 best overall - that way if there were two outstanding sports sedans, they both would make the list. Of course, a wagon like the Dodge would never make the list. I also think that their maximum price of $70,000 (2.5 times the average U.S. new-vechicle transaction price as of August 2004) is WAY too high. I could see using $50K as the top. If a car is gonna cost $70k, it had better be great.
I agree about the price limit being unrealistic. It's easy to make a great car if the budget constraints are not tight. Lets see a top ten for under $30 000
I've always been kinda suspicious of the Car & Driver rankings. They ranked Corvette as THE #1 car (regardless of type) for about 25 years in a row. Apparently somebody on the editorial staff has finally discovered that there ARE other types of vehicles and some darn good ones! OF COURSE, Corvette is still represented... LOL
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

LOLI'm not sure what your saying here Kostby. Car & Driver has always done a top 10 cars, never actually saying a #1 car. Motor Trend does the Car of the Year, but that award means nothing to me since they named the Caprice Classic in 1990 (not positive of the year).
