Which ground wire kit?

Post by BlueCrush »

I have located a Gourmet Garage ground wire kit on Motorgroove.com. They offer a small, medium and a large version. Which one would be better for the Vibe? Thanks,Brian

well theoretically bigger is probably better so there is less impedance restricting the extra discharge from the engine do they say what guage wire each kit comes with?

Yeah, they are all 4 gauge wire kits. By small, medium and large I mean in length small(16",19",23",29",36")-$45, medium(16",23",31",35",39")-$52.50 & large((16",19",23",29",36",210")-$67.50.Brian

Exactly what does this do for your engine? I have seen/heard about these kits, but I don't know what purpose they serve or what you gain from installing them.

Hey Blue,Sorry, I don't remember what sizes I used but you could save yourself about 60% or more if you just made em yourself then you can cut em to length. Should be about $1.00 per foot for the wire (I used 12') then 5 packages of copper wire end terminals (about $1.50 per package or so). I think somewhere in the forums is a how-to, specifically lengths and where to attach. If you need help with that part, I'm sure there are many around who can help.If you do make em yourself, Solder the wires to the terminal ends. My soldering iron wasn't powerful enough so I needed a small gas torch. It was a relatively easy job and was kinda interesting to do.Dave

Well based on the lengths I would probably go with the medium one (if you decide not to make them yourself). Also the lengths depend on how you decide to setup the grounds. If you daisy chain the wires they can probably be a bit shorter than if you do central (also know as parallel) grounding which is where all the battery meet at the battery instead of being strung together in a loop around the engine.
